Sadly it's style over substance at this point. Granted I like the style enough to keep watching but I'm not going out of my way to recommend the show like I was last year.

I'm surprised at the negativity. While this episode felt more like "filler" than other episodes, I still love this season, and I don't hesitate to recommend this show to anyone.

I'm also often at a loss on my people are so down on this season when they loved the first one. S2 is pretty much more of the same.

The first season was about discovering who all these people were and what powers they had and why and how they were being manipulated like they were. Season two is an extended hunt for a body with a lot of characters rehashing things they covered in the first season. The only new development has been with Cary/Kerry and Farouk which, admittedly enough, has been really good.

I’ve said plenty of times that the show is a staggering achievement technically speaking. Gorgeous to look at. Dan Stevens is a phenomenal actor. But it feels to me like I need a PhD in Legion to understand what is going on. It’s fine to be trippy, but it’s just week after week of weird things happening that (at least to me) don’t seem to be explained.

Literally NOTHING has happened this season. It has just became a crap fest.

Not sure what else people expected when many of the primary characters pretty much do everything with their mind. Outside of setting up each character very little actually happened in S1. S2 is the same stuff without the need for the setup, but rather backstory. And just like S1, I expect to appreciate (and understand) the previous episodes far more after the last couple episodes air.

Well, I'll eat my words about the extra episode. To my surprise, it has been renewed:

Ahead of the Season 2 finale, FX has ordered a third season of its praised X-Men universe-themed drama series Legion for premiere in 2019.

I'm finding that, plotwise, the story is pretty straightforward. It's just the way the show is telling the story, leaving bits out until later, jumping around, focusing entire episodes on what seem like asides, that may be frustrating to people. Personally I find it fascinating and entertaining.
A great scene in this is the reshowing of the conversation between Syd and Melanie from S2E01, this time starting it as a shot from the doorway that goes (nearly) uncut for over a minute. It's actually a lot more powerful this time around.
This behind the scenes video goes into how the way you present the story is as important as the story itself:
Also, the dancing mouse scene from S2E06 again, because that was so great:

Yup, I love this show, and the presentation is half of it.
