I'm taking my 10 year old son to see this Thursday evening (7pm showing). From the non-spoiler reviews I've read, it's good fun -- which after TLJ, I'm all about that.

taking my 9 year old triplets to this as soon as I can... I feel like I owe them an apology for the decidedly NOT FUN The Last Jedi.

are you going to bitch throughout the entire movie how you thought anthony ingruber should've been solo in this movie?

I just might! The lead appears to be the only weak link...

Someone on a different messageboard blabbed the biggest spoiler of this film, so I don't feel too worried participating in the spoilers thread. Now that I know the spoiler, I just hope the film makes good on it and doesn't fuck it up. I also hope no one in this movie dies from meditating too hard.

I also continue to be perplexed why anyone who claims to be a fan of something would ever want to read about a spoiler second and third hand, as opposed to having it be potentially presented to you in an amazing way.

I am starting to notice with many of the critic reviews that the ones who love TLJ, are not big fans of Solo the movie. While the ones who hated TLJ like Solo the movie.

^^ Oh boy, should make for an interesting forum for the next 3 months. Sucks we won't have another SW movie until late 2019 after this.

We have 6 p.m. tickets for Friday at a reserved recliner theater that actually serves food. Both of us are looking forward to this.

"Friends cosplay as characters and make a photoshopped poster of what they think a Solo movie poster would look like!"

... oh wait, that's an actual poster

(seeing it Saturday ... but if I ever make a theater room star wars poster gallery, that one does not make the cut)

Eh...I really was indifferent towards it. I didn’t hate it as I did The Last Jedi.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (Howard, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just saw it and it was fun. Lots of fan service and there's nothing wrong with that. Glover was great as Lando and as the movie goes on Ehrenreich slides into the Solo role. Chewie double fisting drinks at the bar was great, as well as L3 starting a riot.

Just in case:
Spoiler:
The Darth Maul cameo was awesome. I need more of that.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (Howard, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Ok, this is a spoiler filled thread so yeah, Maul was cool to see. There was a guy a few seats down that I thought was going to bounce out of his seat he was so excited. Really great surprise, how they kept that under wraps I don't know. But, I get to see Ray Park at our comic convention this weekend so maybe I'll get to ask him about it.

I really wonder why there was so much worry about Alden as Solo, thought he did a great job given the impossible expectations. Glovers intro as Lando, he had his vocal inflection down for sure. Movie was lots of fun.

I really liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Not as good as The Force Awakens, on par with Rogue One and better than The Last Jedi. Bring on the two sequels.

Why all this hate for Jedi? I thought it was great. No, not as good as TFA, but it was still a damn good Star Wars movie. Leagues better than RO...

How long until the crazies start complaining about social just warrioring in the film? You know, because they showed that slavery is wrong.

I'm not watching it for at least two more weeks, as far as I know Kathleen Kennedy and the writers still had to jam in a few things. The Droid that's an SJW, and supposedly Lando is a Pansexual. I think's its probably going to be the least offensive of Disney's Star Wars movies so far.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (Howard, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I enjoyed it. Wasn't sure during the first half (part of the problem might have been that someone had their two-year old in the theater, and they acted as two-years old will often act--so frustrating and rude), but it seemed to hit its stride during the Kessel Run.

My wife did not like it as much as me.

The cameo was awesome. I love what they've done with that character in the animated shows and it was great to see here, with the same voice from the cartoons as a bonus. And I guess Mark Hamill did not spill the beans on a different alleged cameo after all, unless I missed it. Which is possible.

Well, I guess I wasted $50 on a sitter since apparently it's cool to bring toddlers to the theater!

It feels stupid putting spoiler tags in a spoiler thread, but since it's opening night, I will be safe
Spoiler:
OK, so Anthony Daniels is in the film, just not as C-3PO.

This was a big ball of meh for me. I did think it was humorous that the climax of the film is basically an FU to Lucas though.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (Howard, 2018) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Probably my least favorite of the new Star Wars films, but I still enjoyed it. While Maul was a surprise, I think The Clone Wars and Rebels already did a great job with character so I am not exactly thrilled what he does in this Solo world. I do not think the Kessel run lived up to the legend, but I guess that was the point. The MF run on Jakku was better imo.

I thought the actor playing Han did a good job, he got better as the movie went along.

LOL, yes it was.

Saw it last night and LOVED it. Thought the development of Han and Chewie was outstanding. I'm interested to know the timeline of this given the cameo of
Spoiler:
Maul
. Can't wait to see future Han/Chewie centric films.
