Huey Lewis suffering from hearing loss - cancels remaining 2018 concerts

Wow, this is sad news.

I hope he does recover and doesn't lose his hearing permanently.

That's some pretty tough news for anyone, but especially when you're a musician.

Not a huge fan of his music, but I have fond memories, as his was the first rock show I ever saw, back in 1984. I remember it being pretty fun, because this was the tour for the Sports album, and that album exploded on MTV during this tour. So it was fun seeing a big, current MTV star in a pretty small venue.

I’m mostly familiar with the songs done for the Back to the Future films (mainly the first I guess) and his small cameo. I know a couple other hits but can’t say I’m a huge fan. Still a bummer to hear though.

As a child of the 80's, I love his music. Finally saw him and the News last year at a festival. His voice had lost a lot of it's range, but he was still giving it his all. I'm so glad I had the chance to see them before this happened. Hope he recovers.

That sucks Gotta be awful for a musician to lose his hearing.
I saw him once back in high school and would love to see him again.

Hope he gets better

He was a fixture at Niner games in the 80's and his music brings back good memories of the 80's.

Hopefully they can find a new drug that can help him with that.

Really does suck. I was planning to see him in May. Last time I saw him was 1986.

I know it wasn't intentional, but I laughed.

True story--I originally typed I was sorry to hear the news and figured that wasn't the best choice of words.

One of my friends Mom's has Menieres and it's no joke, lots of dizziness loss of balance and general unease. As someone that grew up in the 80s this is sad news indeed. Although they are not in my top 10 bands Hewie seemed like someone that would sort of always be around filling up the small venues during the summer. hope they can get it sorted out as he seems like a really nice guy.

Damn, you just had to say something, thus ensuring that Jeff's awkward penis reference wasn't a thread-killer. Would've been to come back here months/years later and see his post dangling without a reply.

Sorry about your Mom, btw.

Re: Huey Lewis suffering from hearing loss - cancels remaining 2018 concerts

Huey Lewis and the News put out their new album "Weather" and the song "Her Love Is Killin' Me" is the first single released from it:

And Huey Lewis still has the problems with Meniere's disease so the album is shorter than originally planned (only 7 songs) and may end up being their final album.

My first concert ever, 1984 Nebraska State Fair August 31st.

The new song While We're Young is great song on new album.

I'm surprised that his hearing problem prevented them from recording more songs for the new album (which is only 7 songs long and less than 30 minutes total). Couldn't he sing some lyrics acapella and then have the band add in instruments later, molding them to what he sang?

Re: Huey Lewis suffering from hearing loss - cancels remaining 2018 concerts

No he can't hear right. Meaning he can't even hear what he's singing as it sounds like loud noise. They already had those songs done before it got real bad I guess. That's why there is 7. Hell is longer and better than Kanye's last shit album those songs are 2 minutes tops for almost every song.

That single off their new album is pretty good.

Sucks he moved out of the Bay Area and to Montana.

His music in the 80's reminded you of a happier innocent time.

Even though the time wasn't so happy or innocent.
