So... powers are biological in nature and if you could splice the right part of Barry's DNA into someone else?
Anyhoo trying to ignore the explanation and dorky meta-name in an otherwise good episode.

No matter how often they mention it or how many different characters bring it up, Iris being in charge of Team Flash doesn't get any less dumb.

WTF? Since when is Iris the 'leader'? It was tough enough trying understand how she contributes, and now she's the leader of the team?
This is just so f'ing stupid. I'm pretty close to quitting this show.

I've already jettisoned Arrow and the only thing saving The Flash at this point is Digby.

She's been Team Flash leader for awhile now. It didn't just happen.

Pretty much another one-off episode. Not really anything compelling for the long haul since the Meta just transfers powers from one person to another.
Iris as a speedster was kind of amusing. Yeah it was weird that when she was running it had a purple flare. Don't get the logic behind that.
Seems like the one-off episodes don't really spark much compelling discussion.

I didn't watch this ep but saw the commercial. How is she keeping her identity a secret with that domino mask? Or is that not a concern in this ep?

Well if the Speed-Force did choose Barry that has nothing to do with his powers being taken after the fact. I saw nothing in the episode that would contradict that.

Anything Iris centric is always bad news and so it was again
Not a really terrible episode but just unncessary

I wondered about that as well. Just a little. Think it's more about if some higher power, force gives you these powers it's slightly odd they can just be taken away. Not a huge deal though.

This narrative mechanic of the "bus-people" being meta's is just lazy at this point. Someone needs to drive over to Burbank and knock on the doors of the Bertlani writers office and scold them for this season of Flash and Arrow.

The dark matter and most of the dark matter metas have purple hued powers. Iris getting her speed through the dark matter/bus guy was a natural extension of that, hence purple lightning.
Cisco, Harry and Digby delivered as always. The overall Iris plot wasn't near as bad as it could have been. However a speedster running in high heels made little sense.
Oh and Iris stripping / swapping clothes with Kaitlyn "speedforce-style" was awesome. Equally funny that she didn't care that she did it.

They have managed to turn Ralph from one of the better parts of this season to one of the worst.
Hopefully Iris will go back to being a reporter now. The show has been at it's best when she's just Barry's S.O. that happens to be a reporter that magically gets exclusives on the Metas in Star City.

As for Iris, they seriously need to stop this shit. She doesn't bring anything to the table other than eye rolls and people wanting to throw the TV remote at the screen. Why is she the leader of Team Flash? She is certainly a downer every fucking season. The writers must really hate the actress to keep putting her in this position. Even when she was the flash, she became complete useless. Why was she walking around a building on fire like if nothing was going on? Why wasn't she walking back from the second douchebag who got the fire powers? I mean, standing beside him with her hands up and eyes close certainly wasn't helping shit. I sometimes wish that Savitar killed Iris and saved the viewers from her stupid storylines.

I think part of it is that they didn't want to have yet another nice/friendly/helpful character on the cast. If you add a new character, it's usually good to make them a bit different, so they can play off the other characters and bring some drama. I also think they want to take him from this place to his comic book personality, so they're going to show us the transition. Or he's going to meet Sue and she'll inspire him to stop being such a dick.
