So in the monologue when he mentions being in This Is Us and Black Panther, which gets the larger ovation?

Ok, now I get why he's hosting. I haven't seen either, so I had no idea who he was when they were doing promo's. Same thing happened the first time Jon Hamm hosted SNL during the early days of Mad Men.

I thought he was mostly known for his character on Supernatural.

Re: SNL (S43E15) -- 03/10/18 -- H: Sterling K. Brown -- MG: James Bay

I thought this was one of the stronger episodes in a while, mainly due to Brown. He was good to great in every sketch. The Shrek sketch had me laughing more at SNL than I had in a while.

Also loved Keenan breaking character (although I'm sure it was intentionally written in) during Family Feud.

I thought they could have done way more with the Black Panther premise than what they went for.

He was a good host. The material, as usual was hit or miss.

I liked Family Feud and the Coco/Shrek Dinner
Mueller/Bachelor, Doctor's office, Weekend Update, and Black Panther were ok.
The dying lady, and Kyle's "Rock and rap" bit were just awful.
Oh, and the musical guest sucked, too.

I was very tired and fell asleep. Interesting thing was twice I saw an ad to visit St. Louis that Sterling K. Brown did. I take it that it was shown regionally.

Fell asleep at the first musical guest point but I thought it was a very good episode up to that point. One of the better ones I've seen in years. Brown was an incredible host.

Nice to see Vanessa Bayer back on WU though it was not her best work. She probably waited less than a year to come back.

Somebody in the cast or one of the writers is a Nickelback fan?

Good to see more Kate Mckinnon though she was MIA after the first couple of sketches.

What was the deal with Vanessa Bayer? Why did SKB call out thanks to her at the end of the show? Is she finally leaving the show? Her weather report girl who talks gibberish was definitely the weak spot of the show. This barely worked the first time they did it, I don't know why they think it is good enough to be recurring....not funny at all.

agree on the Kyle Mooney Rock vs Rap video. His stuff is always horrible. What was the point? Has he not heard the Linkin Park/JayZ crap album that proves it doesn't work. Or basically any artist who wants to do a collaboration with Jay-Z because he's so 'brilliant' and then it comes out and is horrible. Looking at you Coldplay and Chris Martin.

Writing was on point for most of this episode, every other sketch was good to great. I really enjoyed the Oscar Family Feud and Robert Mueller/Bachelor sketch.

Even tho they didn't show it off, SKB has an amazing body. Wish he would do more stuff that show skin. I never understand guys who spend all that time with trainers and working out in a gym and then never let us see the results....take a note from Ryan Reynolds dude.

Looks like pretty much everything went over your head.

Re: SNL (S43E15) -- 03/10/18 -- H: Sterling K. Brown -- MG: James Bay

Yeah, the rock/rap thing definitely went over his head. But that sketch still went on too long.

I actually liked the Nickelback one, just due to the complete absurdity of it.

And Dr Cupid was pretty good, too, all cause of Brown.

Family Feud was great, mainly because of Brown as Common. He killed it. I like common just fine, but he is kind of absurd at times. And brown nailed that.

They need to have Brown back again for sure.

That Nickleback sketch made me laugh way more than it probably should have

The Nickelback sketch was the highlight of the show for me. I thought it was hilarious.

Yeah, it was just the right level of absurd.

And the show as a whole did nothing but deepen my already high appreciation for Brown.

Don't catch SNL much these days but had this one when I was waiting for my wife to get home from the airport. The Black Panther sketch was awesome. So funny when Brown almost broke down laughing after the whole burger/lion king part.

I guess it did.

Was it supposed to be funny because the white people preferred rock and the black people preferred rap?

Or was it supposed to be funny because its ridiculous to try comparing the two?

I guess I just don't get his sense of humor. He is fine in the skits the writers put together for him but these videos....eesh!

At least they stopped the horrible Orange County Skater documentary crap he used to have on.

Or was that more hysterical stuff that went over my head?

Vanessa Bayer left the show after the 2016-2017 season.

He is not a himbo.

Kyle Mooney will always be cool in my book for giving us Brigsby Bear. He needs more screen time.
