Disobedience” is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Naomi Alderman. The story follows a rabbi’s daughter (Weisz) who returns to her Orthodox Jewish community in Hendon, London following the death of her estranged father. While there, she rekindles a romance with a former friend (McAdams), who just so happens to be married to her cousin. Alessandro Nivola also stars.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and earned strong reviews from critics. “Disobedience” opens in theaters April 27 via Bleecker Street.

Saw this last night. Some of the best work from all involved.

Not at all bad and thankfully not heavy-handed either. Great performances from the three core cast (Weisz, McAdams and Nivola) though it didn't impact me a whole lot on an emotional level, still found it enjoyable and worth watching. 3.5/5

It seemed like just when they are getting hot and heavy the movie ends.
If McAdams kept the blonde hair that would have been better.
One thing I don't get is why they were wearing wigs when they had a full set of hair?
If it was a disguise it did not work that well.

In many traditional Jewish communities, women wear head coverings after marriage. This practice takes many different forms: Hats, scarves, and wigs (often referred to as sheitels [SHAYtulls) all cover and reveal different lengths of hair. Many women only don the traditional covering when entering or praying in a synagogue, and still others have rejected hair covering altogether.
If you want to know why, the article goes into further detail.

Ah, I was wondering who was wearing "wings".
Yeah, the men wear yarmulkes and the women wear wigs. Weird but that's how they roll.
