THE FLASH

"Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MEN - A meta who can shrink anything he touches battles Team Flash. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) get caught in his crossfire and are shrunk to miniature versions of themselves. Cecile (guest star Danielle Nicolet) realizes her pregnancy has caused her to have temporary powers and discovers she can hear other people's thoughts, which unnerves Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) meets someone with a mysterious connection to Henry Allen. Chris Peppe directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Judalina Neira (#412). Original airdate 1/30/2018.

So Flash can get to China, while carrying a 300 pound man, in about one second...
How in the hell does he even face any challenge from anything if that's the case?

And he couldn’t get rid of Davoe’s body in like 7 seconds

This has been an issue for awhile. He is too fast for much of anything to be a threat unless they downplay his powers. Basically nothing is moving to his perception of time. Do a speed mirage!!! Why? just knock them out when they are 0.00001% through blinking their eyes.

Or

They are just being a bit loose with how fast he currently is. Thousands of miles in basically a couple seconds? What would that take? Millions of miles per hour.

It wouldn't be so bad if they just did a better job of being consistent about it. But nope. Got to have a emotional powers scene with Goldberg after having him fail to overcome the lamest big bad of any of the DC shows. But at least they paid if off with the Warden being smarter than Barry.

The gum-shoe scene was a classic. But sadly the constant bits with Cecile reading minds brought the episode back to earth.

Funny that this episode aired on the same day that Marvel put out the trailer for the next Ant-Man movie, which shares some similarities...

They need to stop de-powering Flash. Let him be the Flash and his villains need to be better. That's one of the good things about Devoe, is that he's smarter than Barry. So is the warden.

I had forgotten both Jesse Martin and Richard Brooks (The Warden) were prominent cast members (at different times) of "Law and Order".

10,000 miles (round trip) in one second would be 32 million mph or 4.7% the speed of light.

But no, cleaning up the apartment and dumping Davoe's body on his (Davoe's) front porch in the time it would take the police to enter his apartment was too much of a logical stretch.

Not a comic reader nor do I watch this for the science but is there a difference between flash running and him "tapping" into the speedforce? or is it always him in the speedforce when he is running?

If this were the case he'd be too fast for any camera to see him (unless they have one that could see the Speed Force in prison).

That was another thing. No way that camera is going to catch anything moving THAT fast.

Some funny bits with Cisco and Ralph in tiny size.
Dwarf Star was created by Gail Simone and John Byrne. All-New Atom #2.

Not totally defending the larger lack of logic on these CW shows, but didn't the Warden's screengrab actually show the "lightning" left behind after Barry does his thing. Essentially the same stuff Barry said he saw in his childhood home when he and Reverse Flash were going at it? Can't see the speedsters, but can see what they are leaving behind?

This has become a pretty stupid show. Two guys get shrunk and they do almost nothing with it. They just stand around on a Lego playset the whole time. The mind-reading powers showing up out of nowhere and only being played as some sort of relationship hurdle was a waste of time. And the prison stuff... ugh, is Barry the stupidest person ever?

Too many storylines for one episode and none of them were particularly good.

I don't like the addition of mind-reading powers. They are one of the most difficult powers to incorporate into episodic storytelling and frankly I don't need a third-tier supporting character sucking up this much screen time.

I get the feeling the staff is trying to turn Flash more and more into an ensemble show, when it works much better with a small group of characters.

Wasn't blown away but I thought this was fun. The only eye rolling part for me was Barry carrying Goldberg to China. That got a huge eye roll.

Well, to be fair, it's been on a steady decline since the end of the second season. I'll probably give it one more season, just like I did Arrow, but the show just lacks chemistry... plus they keep on pushing characters that have no business doing what they're doing (Iris).

That's what it looked like. That's up in the air as well when and if they want people to see that.

It's weird because the main appeal of the superhero genre to me is seeing the characters try to balance their personal life and their superheroing. But on this show (and really all the CW DC shows), that's never really an issue. And yeah, Iris doesn't even seem to have her own life anymore. They're leaving a lot of potential drama on the table. It's bizarre to me that they wouldn't want to milk that. Everyone fucking knows he's the Flash, even the fucking prison warden! There's no risk there. They should've just gone all out and have him confess his secret ID in court. Then when they undo that, they can limit who knows and do some stronger superhero stories.

He must have known before Barry aided the escape. There is no reason to install extra cameras to monitor Barry if you think he's a normal human, because normal humans can't possibly escape modern jail cells.

I thought this episode was a blast. The only thing dragging it down was Cecile's mind reading subplot.

Goldberg was excellent as Big Sur. He needs more acting gigs. Hell, toss him in the Fast & Furious franchise and pit him against Hobbes.

That would have worked a lot better if it had worked randomly. Could have spent a few weeks building it up. I wonder if they have a plan for it or if everybody on this show has to have superpowers at some point?

Like them doubling down and making Iris a speedster?
