So, it used to be when I turned my player on, the input on TV would automatically switch over to bluray HDMI input. now, it doesn't do it. i go to Sync settings and the TV says it sends the signal, but it still won't switch over automatically.

any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Try reseating the HDMI cable or try a different cable

I did try that actually. Shut off player for awhile. Took hdmi out. No avail. Thanks.

this problem is so annoying. i switched HDMI inputs. unplugged player for a day. reset all sync settings. nothing. it recognizes it's connected sometimes, but won't switch input automatically anymore...

Well sorry, you should probably just turn it off then.

This is a known issue across many brands.

Yeah, thanks Brian. I actually called Sony support. They walked me through steps I basically already did. Didn’t work. Then I tried just before and it synced. So who the hell knows...

well, it seems that it only switches over when my XBOX and Roku-like device (HDMI) is on. it's weird. it only recognizes when that thing is on and switches over. when XBOX off, no switch. which is weird bc i never did anything with XBOX connection. all i did was hook Roku-like device to XBOX and that's it. in no way should that affect Bluray connected directed to Sony TV. i dunno...

so, i figured out the problem.

when my Roku-like device is plugged into an HDMI port (had it through XBOX, but freed up another port on TV, so goes right through TV) the Blu-ray player is not recognized and thus does not change input automatically (XBOX or TV).

when i unplug the Roku-like device from HDMI, either on the device or TV the player reacts and changes like it used to.

why would that be?

doesn't make sense why another port being occupied would have any effect on player. very weird...

Yes

It has to do with the HDMI standard and the HDCP that is on these devices.

There is no work around save what you are doing.

Seems weird but I don’t use Roku-like device too much and I just disconnect hdmi cable so player works perfect...

so, i didn't want to start a new thread (surprise, surprise).

i have another odd thing that is happening with this tv all of a sudden.

when i turn on sometimes, it won't. i have to unplug and replug in. or, sometimes when i turn on, it resets to Android home screen as if unplugged and i have to redo screen settings for 1080. i checked connections and they seem sold.

anyone know why this might be happening?

Do a TV factory reset. That may clear out whatever is glitching it.

ok, tres. did all you said. everything looks great. one problem though...the 3D viewing feature seems to not be working properly. before i did factory reset, when i put a 3D disc in and set input to player, a message on screen would come on saying "3D signal has been detected". it doesn't anymore. i checked all the settings and the 3D setting is in fact set to "On". the detect 3D signal banner is also set to on. however, when i go to the bluray input when 3D disc is in the banner no longer appears and therefore i cannot sync my active 3D glasses. i turned the player and tv off a couple times and still nothing. no banner and cannot sync glasses to tv so that it reads "3D glasses have been registered" like it used to.

any suggestions? please. i want to watch Avengers: Endgame in 3D and cannot. no banner of 3D signal detection and no banner of registered glasses.

thanks. i think i'm good, everything syncs now, but can't get that "3D signal..." banner to come up anymore. i guess it's not a big deal, maybe the anality in me, but want to see that banner again. and no nothing else has changed except for factory reset. no wires, position or anything...

Thanks tres. There is in fact a display banner notification that I’ve come across before, but it is checked and set to on. I’ve turned on and off hoping it would kick in, but no luck. Oh well. Honestly, since you said and I did factory reset everything (except that) has been better. Functions are working better, picture is better after recalibration, so cant complain too much and I thank you sincerely for suggesting. It’s just a minor thing, but as long as 3D working and actually looking better bc of some other adjustments I hadn’t done before it’ll be fine. Maybe one day it will reappear, but for now, it’s better than good. Thanks again for all.
