Fargo -- Season 4 -- News, rumors, etc.
There is more life left in Fargo.
FX CEO John Landgraf told reporters Friday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour that showrunner Noah Hawley has an idea for a fourth season of the anthology. While the critical darling has yet to be officially renewed, Landgraf said he expected season four of Fargo to air in 2019.
"It's not gone. Noah Hawley has told us that he has an idea that excited me enormously for a fourth cycle of Fargo. The plan is to have that ready for 2019. I'm focused on what's coming in 2018. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of Fargo in 2019," Landgraf said.
Fargo has been a critical success for FX, garnering multiple Emmys and giving the basic cable network another anthology outside of the Ryan Murphy world. The series has also helped draw top talent to the network, including Ewan McGregor.

Hopefully the idea is better than last year. Was pretty bad for Fargo standards.

I think they should toy with the idea of bringing back some of the key characters from S1 and S2 and tell a story that bridges both stories/timelines. The "original" story of S3 didn't go well at all.

I'm happy with whatever we get. I've enjoyed all three season. Perhaps not equally, but enjoyed nonetheless.

Even if it doesn't come back seasons 1/2 are some of the finest TV FX has ever done & well worth repeat views in the future.

Despite the failings of season 3, I'd welcome another season of this show.

Season 3 was good. Everyone keeps shitting on it but it was good. The problem with it is that it wasn't great. That was seasons 1 and 2.

Kudos to the network for not forcing this as a seasonal show. I would rather see two or three years pass before the creators put together a good story than have utter crap hoisted on me just because it is a certain time of the year and the network needs 12 weeks of Tuesday nights filled.

Chris Rock is heading to Fargo — or, more accurately, Kansas City, Missouri.
FX announced on Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Season 4 of Fargo is super-officially a go, with Chris Rock set to lead the anthology series’ latest ensemble.
The acclaimed Fargo’s latest saga spins the tale of two crime families — one Italian, the other African-American, with Rock playing the boss of the latter.
Emmy winner Noah Hawley will again lead the creative team for Fargo Season 4, with will begin production in 2019. In a statement, Rock — who previously exec-produced FX’s Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell — said, “I’m a fan of Fargo and I can’t wait to work with Noah.”
Season 4’s full synopsis follows; give it a read and then share your expectations for the new flurry of Fargo:
In 1950, at the end of two great American migrations — that of Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, who came to the U.S. at the turn of the last century and settled in northern cities like New York, Chicago, and African Americans who left the South in great numbers to escape Jim Crow and moved to those same cities — you saw a collision of outsiders, all fighting for a piece of the American dream.
In Kansas City, Missouri, two criminal syndicates have struck an uneasy peace. One Italian, one African American. Together they control an alternate economy — that of exploitation, graft and drugs. This too is the history of America. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.
Chris Rock plays the head of one family, a man who — in order to prosper — has surrendered his oldest boy to his enemy, and who must in turn raise his son’s enemy as his own. It’s an uneasy peace, but profitable. And then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies. And everything changes.
It’s a story of immigration and assimilation, and the things we do for money. And as always, a story of basically decent people who are probably in over their heads. You know, Fargo.

Rock has really only been in Sandler vehicles of late... and those are all terrible. I'll give him a chance... but he's no Ewan McGregor.

Noah Hawley has finally found a date for production to start on the fourth season of Fargo.
FX boss John Landgraf, speaking at TCA, said that the show will go into production this winter and that the network will keep making it as long as creator Hawley is interested.
“We’ve actually now heard the season pitch for the fourth season of Fargo; Noah’s writing it and I read the first script and loved it. I didn’t know if it would go past one season [but] as long as he can come up with fantastic ideas, we’ll make them forever if he keeps coming up with them,” Landgraf added.
The fourth season of FX Networks’ Emmy-winning series will be toplined by Chris Rock, who will play the head of a crime family. Last year, EP Warren Littlefield told Deadline that the show will be set in Kansas City in 1950.
The city will serve as the crossroads and collision point of two migrations, Italians coming from Italy and African Americans fleeing the south to escape Jim Crow, both fighting for a piece of the American dream as two controlling crime syndicates. They are at an uneasy peace controlling an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs. To cement their peace, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons.
“Please don’t tell people this is the end,” Hawley told Deadline back in 2017.
