The Force Awakens (2015) or The Last Jedi (2017)?
I know we have the rank SW thread, but thought just for the first two in new.
So, with both new movies of the new trilogy out now. which do you think is the better film in the Star Wars: Episode pantheon?
after seeing TFA the other night and then TLJ last night, i really have to give the edge to TLJ. TFA was great. brought the fun back and kept the original in mind and in-line. the new one enhances that and adds some. really, same ole' story in all the 8 movies ttt. but TLJ was thrilling from beginning to end...

I liked both, but The Force Awakens was more consistently good from start to finish.

I really liked them both, but on a purely subjective level, I felt an emotion connection to the original trilogy from The Last Jedi that I didn't really get from The Force Awakens.

I liked The Last Jedi better then Force Awakens, although as more time has gone by the more the negative aspects of TLJ stand out so we'll see how it goes as more time passes.
Whatever the third movie does with the characters might also change how I feel about the way the events unfold.

I’ve only seen The Last Jedi once so far. I like them both a lot. I feel like The Last Jedi is the better film and I liked that we got more Luke but I think The Force Awakens has more of a pure enjoyment level to me.

I need to see TLJ again before making a final decision, but my gut says TFA.
Although I applaud Johnson for taking risks, everything with Finn/Rose is a complete and total drag.
TFA is more fun and highly entertaining, redundant or not. And it doesn't have any weak subplots, save for perhaps the Maz Kanata crap.

I can't vote yet. I've seen The Force Awakens 4 times, but I've only seen The Last Jedi once - so far.
Maybe after the next time I watch TLJ I'll have a better idea of how they compare.

I like both but TFA annoyed me at the end with its derivativeness. There were derivative elements in TLJ also, but less so, I felt.

TFA by a landslide, Rouge One above both. TLJ ruined the canon world of SW.

I liked both and Rogue One.
TFA was great, TLJ was great but I can definitely see the beef Mark Hamill had with the way Luke was portrayed.
Rogue was was different and very good.....I'm not sure I hold the same hope for Solo since we are already so familiar with those characters.

TFA
The problem is TFA is just irrelevant now when you goto watch it again. The whole movie is predicated on finding Luke Skywalker, so watching now is pretty jarring knowing it was a big waste of time. TFA builds up Snoke as this big bad villain as even Han Solo mentions him to his son, but now you go back and watch it and he is almost a punchline for dying like a bitch. Every Rey scene where it is implied there is something big about her regarding her heritage (the Lightsaber calling her, Luke's music, etc) was just a big fake out. And of course then ending of TFA is a Spaceballs Parody as Luke just chucks the saber in the next movie.
