Posting this a little early. This is a 4-part crossover event over 2 nights (Monday and Tuesday). Part 2 is on Arrow at 9pm after this. It's airing on a special night.
I know some here don't follow all 4 shows, so you will have to decide if you are interested enough to watch this crossover as you may not know or have background on who some of these characters are.

So, are we going to actually jump right into the Crisis storyline, or are we going to have to put up with unrelated Supergirl nonsense, only to have Barry Allen portal in to deliver a wedding invitation at 8:57 pm?

Yeah I recall last year Benoist was MIA for most of the "1st part" because she was busy shooting on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. So they had to make it a self contained Supergirl episode mostly without her.
Now they're bringing everyone together for this.

The first 40+ minutes was all set up.
But, man, the attack at the church by the Earth X villains was pretty awesome.
Kara fighting her Earth X doppelganger was pretty cool.
Loved the opening titles. Felt like we were watching the opening pages of a comic.
It did not feel like a Supergirl episode at all except for maybe 5-10 minutes.
Now onto Part 2 (Arrow)
and at Stein trying to sell Jax on becoming "The Incredible Elastic Sticky Man"

I honestly think this event in the first two parts is a lot better than the JL movie. Ha!

So who was the girl who spoke to Barry at the wedding? Did I miss an episode? Is she part of the ongoing Thinker storyline or a future daughter of Iris and Barry?

No, we've never seen her before. She disappeared when the church attack happened. Not sure who she was.

Jesus Melissa Benoist in that dress at the rehearsal dinner.
Yet again, Mick steals the show.
Where the hell was Palmer? He not good enough for a wedding invite?

Great story so far and just plain fun and glad they aren't treating it like last years where each show had their storyline. Loved the opening with why some guest hadn't RSVP'd and like DJ said earlier, that Opening Crisis X title card with each hero just looks awesome and made it seem like an event. It is amazing what they can do on a TV show and TV schedule for this crossover. Can't wait for tonight.

I was thinking about that too. We know he's friends with Barry and was in last year's crossover. Same with Diggle.

This crossover had great ratings for the CW. I saw advertising for it on other cable channels the past week.
Why did Kara react so badly to the idea her doppelganger was married to Oliver on Earth-X? That seemed unusual, trashing the lead of another CW series.
I'm guessing dropping Ray from the cast was a budget issue. You have to pay each actor for making the guest appearance on another show.

I figured Kara reacted like that due to the first crossover where Oliver didn't trust her and treated her differently and then she just found out that he had Kryptonite arrows. Oliver is the complete opposite of her. That is how I took it.

Yeah, that seems to be the theory going. At first they thought it was Barry and Iris' daughter that was part of the twins but a granddaughter would make more sense from her reaction to Barry. Someone also pointed out that the last episode of Supergirl had all the symbols on the Legions on the ship Mon-El came on suggesting that we would get the Legion. However that was on Kara's earth.

They really need to time these crossovers better. You can't have your TV diision showing up the movie division a week after your event movie releases.
That's one helluva way to kick off a crossover. Benoist in the rehearsal dinner dress Benoist in the black SS Supergirl outfit However, I can't buy her as a villain at all. Superfriends fighting Nazi's? Awesome. I liked Guardian's Earth X costume. Looked a little bit Captain America-ish
Mick stole every scene he was in. Kinda saw Alex and Sarah coming from a mile away... and I'm fine with it. My daughter thinks they make a cute couple.
And the whole shebang kicked off with a King Shark beatdown! What was he doing out anyway? That was pretty random.
I was kinda bummed that Gypsy wasn't Cisco's +1. Ralph was a no-show as well but makes sense given he is new to the group. Ray missing was kind of odd as well.
Honestly, I'd settle for one less episode of each show to cover the costs of having the full cast of each show there for the crossovers.
That's at least three weeks in a row. Hulk and Spidey references on Flash the last two weeks, then Spidey on Supergirl this week. It's kinda weird. I wonder if they are referencing actual heroes(i.e. Hulk & Spidey exist in the Arrowverse), or just pop culture references. Probably just the latter, but it's fun to think about the former.

If the timeline diverged seventy years ago the odds of any of these people being born let alone come into the same skill yet would be almost impossible as too much would change over that many years to alo..................
Entertaining crossover, I'm enjoying it!!!

Thought the episode was somewhat slow for the most part up until the end. The fight scene in the church was awesome though. Didn't like the Sara/Alex thing. It was blatantly obvious that the only reason that she was there was to hook up with Sara.
Mick definitely stole the show this episode.
