The reviews on this have been good. I am hopeful. Fox/FX did an outstanding job with Legion.

How many episodes will this season be? 13, with a potential back 9 pickup? Or more concise?

Please be good, and please, please, please be nothing like Heroes.

It's still weird to me that they use the Strucker name, though that must be intentional.

This review from Collider says it’s a 10 episode order.

Re: The Gifted (S1E01) -- Series Premiere (X-Men Series) -- "eXposed" -- 10/2/17

I really enjoyed it. Found it very entertaining. It's kind of a cross between X-Men and The Fugitive.

Some good special effects in this 1st episode. I wonder if they can keep up the effects for future episodes. Usually the 1st episode is the most expensive.

I'm curious, how does Strucker's kids have the Mutant gene, but neither him or his wife seem to have it?

They did mention a few times that the X-Men have disappeared. I'm curious if timeline wise this takes place before Days of Future Past. Weren't the X-Men were in hiding in that movie? It did take place in the distant future and they were also being killed off one by one.

Being that this show is loosely affiliated with X-Men, I think this will get some decent numbers, but not anything outstanding. It will probably pick up a lot of DVR and delayed viewers. The Vegas shootings and news today I think overshadowed Monday's scripted TV.

I haven't seen the show yet but aren't Mutants born to non mutants all the time in the Marvel Universe? Like Scott and Jean's parents weren't mutants, unless that was retconned.

I'm just surprised the parents (knew before hand) where not hateful, cruel bigots to their children which Marvel based comics sure like doing. Sure it can happen just not EVERY single time.

It's probably a non-X-linked recessive inheritance pattern. You don't get it unless both parents have it, but you can be a carrier. Neither parent has it because only one of their parents had it (and so on). If it's sufficiently rare it's unlikely two carriers will mate.

That's why attempts to breed out genetic diseases in dogs failed. Lines of dogs who have no history of genetic disease themselves can be carriers for one or more of them.

I enjoyed it.

I wonder if Rogue will ever make an appearance since Moyer and Paquin are married.

Also, I think Amy Acker continues to be otherworldly gorgeous.

Correct. There are two types of X mutants; Those who are ground 0 mutants (born of normal parents), and those who inherited mutant genes from one or both of their parents.

The daughter kept reminding me of a Chloe Moretz - Hayden Panatiere mashup.

She was on Gotham two years ago, and she played the narrator's first girlfriend on the Goldbergs for the first three seasons.

Oh, so she's a traitor.

Still odd to me that we have a DC show and a Marvel show back to back.

This pulled a 1.5 / 4.85m viewers L+SD which isn't great but it isn't bad in modern times, curious what the L+3 and L+7 will be. It improved on its lead-in (Lucifer) by a fair bit.

Good production value when it came to the CGI etc. I think the story lines are going to be rehashed from other shows with the same theme but that's to be expected. Mostly I was happy to see no one, at least not yet, has a power that is going to let them do some of the stuff that got Heroes into trouble as a show.

Shows need to start people out slow and then move the power levels up over time. Heroes hit the ground running with so much high level powers early on that they ran out of story lines almost right away. So many people were just untouchable and of course the lame time jumps to re-re-re-set story lines that kind of annoyed everyone.

I'll keep watching

Once Heroes had characters with such power I didn't really want it taken away however they likely never should have done it in the first place. Even comics tend to stay away from characters being able to copy and keep all powers they are around for good.

I think it was good, not great. Like if it debuted now, there's no uniqueness there, so even if they actually had a semi-coherent plot like the first season (and none of the other ones) did, I doubt it would be thought of as anything more than a rip off, since there are so many shows about people with superpowers. I mean they really went into Highlander 2 territory ruining a great concept with every new backstory reveal. Plus they didn't really have a cohesive plot mapped out. I mean did they really just mean to leave that Irish girlfriend in the future? To this day I'm not sure if it's the writers strike that did them in like so many other shows, because even when the writers came back the ship didn't correct (unlike, say, Friday Night Lights)

It wasn't the stealing/borrowing powers thing that did them in it was how overpowered Hiro/time manipulation was and then stealing his power that made them turn their characters into idiots to get around it.

I don't really want powers to increase over time. Rather, I'd prefer the characters' ability to use what they have improve. For instance, on this show, the girl who creates the portal has trouble doing so. Over time, she should get better at it. Let her become more powerful that way. The girl in the one X-Men movie who was portal-ing was fluid. Also, if you limit abilities, it forces characters to learn to work together.
