90's House (MTV) -- reality competition show

MTV today announced that singer and actress Christina Milian will join Lance Bass as host of the network's highly anticipated new series "90's HOUSE," premiering Tuesday, September 26th at 11 PM ET/PT. 90's fan-favorite guest stars include Mario Lopez, Tatyana Ali, Michelle Williams, Joey Fatone, Marques Houston, Tyson Beckford, Salt N' Pepa, Kid N' Play, Bill Bellamy, Joey Lawrence, Kel Mitchell, Lori Beth Denberg and more. The competition show places 12 millennial housemates in a 90's inspired house that forces the young adults to officially unplug their modern-day devices and party like it's 1990. With only the technology, catch phrases and fashion from that decade, each episode opponents will face elimination by competing in various 90's themed challenges. The raddest contestant will win $90K, a Mazda Miata and two VIP tickets on a 90's cruise.

This is basically just a rehash of a show they did about 10-12 years ago called "The 70's House" but instead of 2 stand up comic's they replaced them with 2 singers who were popular in the past.

I thought it was that too as an earlier press release just listed the celebs that are going to be on the show. Unfortunately its not - the 90's stars just show up - help out with the competitions - give out advice. The contestants are 20 somethings who were born in the 90's.

Just watched the first episode. As with most MTV comps, the contestants are pretty unlikeable, -or are at least edited that way. The episode's challenge was kind of low-rent, and how the losing contestant was chosen seemed kind of random. This might be because they were trying to cram a lot of info into 42 minutes. Mario Lopez showed up for a very meaningless two minutes. I'll give it one more.

Hated it!
I was hoping to like it, as I can tolerate Real World contestants. But I couldn’t tolerate these people.

This show must be doing terrible in the ratings. It didn't run after The Challenge tonight as scheduled. Looks like it's been moved to MTV2 on Friday nights!

That's the MTV way. I remember an MTV reality comp with a "Live Performance" show that went from one elimination a week to a bunch of eliminations the next week leading to "next week's finale" when the show was half-way through it's run.
