On the rebound after a devastating break-up, Lisa (Mandy Moore) is ready for adventure while on vacation in Mexico. Even still, she needs a little extra persuasion when her daring sister Kate (Claire Holt) suggests they go shark diving with some locals. Once underwater in a protective cage, Lisa and Kate catch a once in a lifetime, face-to-face look at majestic Great Whites. But when their worst fears are realized and the cage breaks away from their boat, they find themselves plummeting to the bottom of the seabed, too deep to radio for help without making themselves vulnerable to the savage sharks, their oxygen supplies rapidly dwindling. 47 METERS DOWN is a terrifying tale of survival set in the domain of the ocean's fiercest creatures.

I don't get the premise. Is the person topside a complete moron and unaware the giant cage attached to the boat broke free? Is there no one topside and the two girls lowered themselves down?

Movie was previous called In the Deep and DVD copies were on sale last year even though they were supposed to be have been pulled. I have a copy I received for review.

Saw this last year and with a back to back with the shallows freaked me out. Took me a month before I would go back into the ocean again.

For a pretty low budget movie it wasn't too bad. I like Mandy Moore and now she's made a big name for herself on This is Us. And Claire Holt isn't bad either. I heard this was shot like 4 years ago.
It had some suspenseful moments with the sharks. The big "twist" was interesting....I kind of thought that the rescue sequence was happening too easily and something else was up.
This is definitely a 1-time only watch. If you can rent it digitally or on DVD cheap, then it's a good way to kill 90 minutes. No need to own this.

Terrible, terrible movie. The "twist" ending was alluded to 40 minutes before the end. I wish I had my hour and a half back.
Also, Mandy Moore screaming is the source of my nightmares. Ugh.

It sounds like this was no The Shallows, which I found to be a pleasant surprise when I saw it on Netflix.
