ROMANCES AND RIVALRIES - With Riverdale High's annual variety show around the corner, Valerie's (guest star Hayley Law) efforts to help Archie (KJ Apa) prepare for his big performance lead to some major fallout between her and Josie (Ashleigh Murray). Meanwhile, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) investigation into Jason's death brings them to a home for troubled youth and face-to-face with Polly (guest star Tiera Skovbye). Just as her relationship with her mother was on the upswing, an unexpected betrayal sends Veronica (Camila Mendes) spiraling, while Josie deals with her own pressures at home after her overbearing father returns for her performance at the variety show. Finally, Hermoine's (Marisol Nichols) first day at Andrew's Construction finds her and Fred (Luke Perry) growing closer. Madchen Amick also stars. Steve Adelson directed the episode written by Tessa Leigh Williams & Nicholas Zwart (#106). Original airdate 3/2/2017.

Veronica in that Pussycat outfit. I never realized how unattached Archie is to everything. It's like he's the normal plot while Jughead and Betty are the bat shit insane plot.Nice to finally meet Polly and her being pregnant actually kind of surprised me. One nice thing this show does is even though its basically a soap opera they keep it from going too far over the top even with the car with a brick of pot.

I liked it, but it felt like 2 separate episodes squeezed into one.
The Betty/Jughead Jason mystery plot and her sister really felt disconnected.
Archie's plot with Valerie and the talent show was good and I liked the music, but it felt like it could have filled it's own episode. Plus, there were other little nuggets like Josie's Daddy issues, Fred and Hermione getting closer to Veronica's disapproval.

Wow. Betty and Jughead getting together. The Jughead in this universe is definitely not asexual. I wonder how long it will be until Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica form The Archies?

Good episode, but agree with feeling disjointed.
Veronica's mother issue cannot end well. Talk about bad decisions. Oh, my husband is in jail so let me forge some corporate papers. And how does a 16 year old get signatory authority, especially without a notary public?
Not really digging Jughead and Betty getting together, but their investigation is good.
Betty's parents are struggling! Mom is about to come off the hinges!
Pretty sure I called the Polly pregnancy!

I'm in for the season. I'm expecting Ms Grundy back pregnant at some point, and then we will find out it's not Archie's, but that could be season two now.
