Nothing I'm really rooting hard for this year. Although I will say Fences deserves to win every award its nominated for.

I'm pulling for:
Hacksaw Ridge for Best Picture
Mel Gibson for Best Director
Casey Affleck for Best Actor
Emma Stone for Best Actress
I'm indifferent to every other nomination and suspect I'll be disappointed at the end of the night.

All I want is for Kubo to win best animated... but I'm sure it'll go to Moana. Kinda weird seeing two Disney movies nominated and not a single Pixar flick.
I haven't seen Zucchini or the Red Turtle yet, but Ghibli usually comes up empty on these shores.

Red Turtle was very good too but more art like film.
Have not seen Zucchini or Sing(golden globe Nominee).
Hell I did not even know Sing was Animated film until today.
The Boy and the Beast (2015) was also very good.Awards of the Japanese Academy winner.

Opens with a Justin Timberlake number? Is this the Oscars or the MTV Video awards?
(It can only go further downhill from here.)

Is there some kind of protest going on where nobody shaves for a cause? Are they boycotting a razor company or something?

Disappointed Kimmel didn't seem to have any kind of opening skit/film/something. For better or worse, I like when the hosts give the show a stamp of their own, like Letterman, Crystal, McFarlene, Ellen did.
On the plus side, it looks like they're giving winners longer to speak.

And so it begins. La La Land is going to get shut out in all categories.

Suicide Squad has one more Oscar than Deadpool.

LA LA LAND loses another one--to HACKSAW RIDGE!
I'm astounded at how few people in the audience I recognize. If anyone tunes in thinking they're gonna see "the stars," they're bound to be disappointed.

My favourite awkward moment of the show so far is the usher literally pushing the one winner off-stage as he makes a tribute to his recently deceased wife.
