About the Show
From "The Golden Girls" to "The Good Place," from "The Rockford Files" to "This Is Us," from Jack, to Johnny, to Jay, to Jimmy, the rich and prolific history of NBC will be celebrated Sunday, February 19 at 8/7c on "The Paley Center Salutes NBC's 90th Anniversary."
Five-time Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer will serve as host. Grammer is, of course, best known in television history as Frasier Crane, who was first introduced on NBC on "Wings" before moving on to "Cheers" and then "Frasier" - tying the record for the longest-running (non-animated) character on television at 20 years with James Arness from "Gunsmoke."

Uh, Frasier Crane was absolutely on Cheers well before his cameo on Wings.

Nice sidestep on The Cosby Show by focusing on Phylicia Rashad instead of Bill. I wondered how they'd handle that, and I'm glad they didn't Chris Benoit the existence of the show.

Hollywood is a strange place in that they have totally dismissed Bill Cosby yet they have no problem ever honoring Woody Allen or Roman Polanski.

Allen and Polanski never set themselves up as moral authorities or cultivated images as idealized father figures.

Maybe I am a snob of sorts, but given such an incredibly stupid error on NBC's part describing the show, nothing could ever convince me that this wasn't an absolutely worthless retrospective.

I think it would have been great to have all of the former-NBC stars there (sort of like SNL did for the 40th Anniversary) and have them introduce clips of the shows. To see them gloss over Seinfeld, Carson, etc, seemed liked it was rushed to me.

I just caught bits and pieces. Did they even mention Bob Hope who was on for 40-50 years, Bonanza(14 years), Wonderful World of Disney, I Dream of Jeannie.
They did mention Star Trek.
All the stuff I mentioned NBC does not own. Wonder if this was done on the cheap using clips of material they own outright only. Are classic shows from the 1960s the tv version of classic rock like Beatles, Stones, Who, etc. Super expensive to license clips?

Don't know how that is in any way equivalent to a man who committed serial date rapes.

Anyone notice the weird green screen interviews.
It was stretching heads.
Lester Holt looked like a cone head and it cut off Helen Hunts nose

Finally watching this. For how much ground to cover they did manage to touch on quite a bit. Seems like a lot was left out though. It's amazing how many killer shows NBC has had over the years...and by extension highlights how far they have fallen in recent years. I had forgotten about some of them(or didn't realize they were NBC shows). Maybe a bit too much Will & Grace coverage (I presume to promote whatever new thing they're doing). Given the fact they seem to have multiple SNL clip shows every year they could have trimmed some of that fat as well to make room for other shows.
The only recent shows coming to mind that they haven't touched on are Community & Chuck, both kept alive by rabid fanbases. Then again I'm not done yet.
Also Helen Hunt is aging quick. She's only 53. At least she's aging naturally which seems like a rare thing in Hollywood.
