The movie will mark the first time the two action heroes will fight for the same side.
Action mainstays Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are reteaming for Black Water, an action thriller from Dawn's Light Media.
Van Damme and Lundgren have appeared together before, in several of the Universal Soldier action movies, but always on the opposite ends of the flying fists and feet. In Black Water they star as onscreen allies for the first time.
The script by Chad Law centers on a deep cover operative (Van Damme) who awakens to find himself imprisoned in a CIA black site on a submarine.
Richard Switzer of Dawn's Light is producing alongside Tyler Konney. Alexander Ferguson and Jason Cherubini will serve as executive producers. Dawn's Light is financing the picture.
Switzer and Konney recently completed a finance deal on the Josh Hutcherson-Alexandra Shipp horror comedy Tragedy Girls and also produced Altitude, a thriller that starred Lundgren and Denise Richards. The company has offices in Los Angeles and Maryland.
Taylor & Dodge will handle worldwide sales on the film.
Van Damme stars on Amazon's original comedy series Jean-Claude Van Johnson, which was picked up by the streaming service earlier this year. He is repped by Gersh and Hirsch Wallerstein.
Lundgren is repped by Gersh and Bloom Hergott.

New Trailer:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WOTDGACjzcY" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Comes out June 29th in limited theatrical release and VOD.
Black Water is the story of a CIA operative (Van Damme) who is imprisoned in a CIA black site on a nuclear submarine after being framed as a traitor. He has to prove his innocence with the help of fellow inmate (Lundgren) and clear his name before he disappears forever…
The film also stars Patrick Kilpatrick (Death Warrant), Al Sapienza (Sopranos), Jasmine Waltz (Poker Run) and Kristopher Van Varenberg (Assassination Games).
Black Water (aka Submerge, obviously no relation to Steven Seagal’s Submerged) is written by Chad Law (Close Range) from a story by Tyler W. Konney (Blue Line), and is produced by Richard Switzer (Altitude).

Re: Black Water (2018) -- S: Van Damme, Lundgren
Spoilers.
Eh, not bad but not any good either. Anyone expecting Van Damme and Lundgren teaming up will probably be disappointed as Lundgren comes in for a few minutes early on (talking to Van Damme through a cell) and maybe 30-minutes before the end, is let out and only then starts kicking butt only to disappear again during the finale and fight with the bad guy. He does show up one more time at the very end for a minute.
Otherwise, the fight scenes were fine and at least it doesn't look like Van Damme has gone down the lazy path of fellow (former) action star Seagal so there's that. The effects are what you would expect from a movie of this type, same for the plot. Can't say I really regret watching as I do like Van Damme even in these lesser movies.
2.5/5, (C, 5.2/10, 2/4)
