I just want to say, Best Actor (C/M) - Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool)

Glad it got a Best Picture/Comedy nomination as well

I don't think in nearly 40 years of dedicated award show watching I've ever seen a movie acting category as devoid of star power as Best Supporting Actor is here. Jeff Bridges aside, those are not household names.

Hoping this is Mel Gibson's comeback!

Surprised to see Deadpool show up in several categories. I enjoyed it but didn't think it was anything special. More power to them though.

Right... they're better known as

Remy...or Kottonmouth
Walowitz
The guy from Slumdog Millionaire
Kickass... or the other Quicksilver

respectively.

I didn't know you needed to be a star to be nominated for acting.

You don't, and I never said anyone wasn't deserving. But the HFP loves their stars and will reach to bring some to their show (example : Nominating Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie for The Tourist), so this was a surprise to me.

Kind of surprised that Silence is not nominated. Hearing lots of rave reviews.

...and I just read an Entertainment Weekly item that said the reviews from Critics were mostly middling at best.

no nom for 'The Red Turtle' ?!? 'Moana' was good, but not great in my opinion.

I was more looking forward to seeing a drama get nominated in the best musical/comedy category like The Martian did last year. I couldn't stop laughing at Matt Damon's performance.

I like that Sing Street got a nom, but am surprised that in its recognition it didn't favor an original song nod as well.

Yeah, that wasn't going to happen again :

-- Good news for the producers of Deadpool, apparently.
