I haven't watched SNL in [oldman ] decades [/ oldman] ... Was that a damn good performer or was it actually Cranston in the opening?

Admittedly I tuned in for Cena hoping for a show remiscent of the Peyton Manning one (I think that one was the only full episode I've watched since the '80s). I thought Cena did fairly well. Overall there were a couple of funny bits, but segments like Dyke and Fats made me cringe. I'll go back to not watching again. Call me in another 25 years.

Why would they dump that great "Through Trump's Eyes" film towards the end of the show like that?

The Peyton show was better. Cena is lame.
Karate Teen was weak and Aidy Bryant falling out of the window was another weak sketch.
Kate McKinnon as Merkel was probably the only bright spot.
I wonder how long Melissa Villaseņor will last? She barely appears in any sketches.

Maren Morris sounded pretty rough live and I actually like her first song.
Cena was given subpar material, but I also think he was trying a bit too hard with some of his voices. Some of his characters sounded cartoony for no reason other than it seemed he was trying to 'play a character'. He was good in Trainwreck and Sisters, but I think he was trying too hard here to be a jack-of-all-trades like The Rock and he's just not there.
All I know about her is that she sounds like a Muppet. I thought she was doing a weird character the first few times but I think that's just the way her voice sounds.

My 6-year old walked in while I was going through this on DVR.
The Mighty Owl made him laugh harder than I have ever seen him laugh before. He was nearly in tears. Kindergartners aren't SNL's target market, but heck, this skit worked on him.
