Why Him? (2016, D: Hamburg) S: Cranston, Franco, Deutch
Over the holidays, Ned (Bryan Cranston), an overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). The rivalry develops,and Ned's panic level goes through the roof when he finds himself lost in this glamorous high-tech world and learns that Laird is about to pop the question.

Not sure about this one. It looks like it could either be really good or really bad. I'm interested mostly because of Cranston and Franco can be good in over the top roles. I don't have huge expectations for this though.

The red band trailer pretty much showed all the good parts of this movie. More cringeworthy than funny humor throughout. 2.5/5. Even pulls only a 55% from audiences on RT. Megan Mullaly was fantastic, I love that broad. Meet The Parents but with a straight laced parent and off the rails boyfriend.

Well, it looks like nobody in this forum watched this aside from Jim Rochester.
I rented the DVD last night and watched it today. It made me laugh a few times. Fun, with some cheap gags, but mostly forgettable. I thought Franco was way over the top and quite obnoxious. Definitely a 1-time only watch. But, I liked Cranston. I think he kept the movie from being a complete bomb. I saw this movie was actually a moderate hit.
I had no idea that Zoey Deutch was Lea Thompson's daughter. I can definitely see the resemblance now that I think about ti. She was cute.
I'd give it a maybe a 3 out of 5 or a B-.

I watched it a few weeks ago as well. It wasn't very good. I thought the first half was better than the second half, and that's where most of the scenes from the trailer came from as well. If you saw the trailer, you saw the best version of the movie 
Also, the daughter needs to be in more movies. Preferably with less clothing.

Franco annoyed me to the point that I shut it off after 30 minutes, I normally enjoy his antics but holy crap did I want to punch his character in the face.
But yeah I like Zoey Deutch, she looked like a young Isla Fisher in Good Kids.

I saw this in the theater, and frankly it was better than I expected it to be, or maybe I was just in a good mood when I saw it.
I went in with very low expectations. It was just something to do with my friend, and I'm not very picky anymore thanks to MoviePass.

I think he was supposed to be the puppy with muddy paws. You didn't want him around you at first but eventually you think he's cute and grows on you. He never did. I thought Cranston and Mullaly were great with what they were given but one can only think the only reason the daughter would be with a douchebag like that is because he had money. If he was middle class and that crass no way. So that makes her a money grubbing whore gold digger which doesn't endear her to the audience.
