Movies that you really enjoy but don't watch often because of the long running time?

What movies do you really enjoy but don't really watch often simply because of the long running time?

-The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
-The Dark Knight Trilogy

America for me too. I have seen The Deer Hunter an inordinate amount of times given its nearly 3 hour runtime...

Das Boot, and I even prefer the longer director's cut.

I really want to watch Boyhood, but the long running time is keeping me from starting it. I've got kids now, I don't have time for 3 hour movies.

Lord of the Rings is a given.

My favorite movie, though, is Braveheart. I used to watch it all the time on VHS (man that was a while ago). I just can't pop it in and settle in for 3 hours anymore.

das Boot
Apocalypse Now
Gettysburg
Extended cuts of the LotR films.
Sitting down for any of these is a commitment. Doesn't mean I won't watch them. Heck, I did the LotR marathon of the extended editions at AMC when the first Hobbit movie came out.

Re: Movies that you really enjoy but don't watch often because of the long running ti

Pretty much any Bollywood movie. The first one I ever saw, MOHABBATEIN (2000), is a masterpiece, yet it's 216 min. long! DEVDAS (2002), which I tried to show to people once to give them a hint of Bollywood, is short at 185 min.! Still, they only made it through an hour.

In contrast, I've seen my favorite kung fu films far more often because they're usually only 90 min.

VS.

I love the war film genre but they all seem to be 2 1/2 hours or more. Two hours to 2 1/4 are the short ones. Armageddon is a guilty pleasure but is about 9 hours long.

I love Titanic & Gone With the Wind, but there's not enough hours in the day to revisit them too often.

Titanic

Opening scene, jump to nude scene, jump to ship sinking. A perfect hour.

If only I could have watched it that way in the theater.

I've been wanting to do the Watchmen Ultimate cut again, but that's a heck of a chunk of time to find to watch an R rated movie.

Movies over two hours are tough. By the time we both sit down she doesn't like to stay up real late on weekends so two is about it. Once we've already watched one or two things off the DVR and a 2 hour movie, I really can't put anything too terribly long in either.

A few years ago, I would fairly regularly watch FOTR in about 45 minutes by skipping to my favorite scenes: Opening, council, Moria, ending battle.
