The Hustle (2019, D: Addison) S: Anne Hathaway, Rebel Wilson
The updated remake brings con artistry to the 21st century — two female scam artists, one low rent and the other high class, compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune.
Wilson is also attached to star in a remake of the Goldie Hawn movie “Private Benjamin.”
Roger Birnbaum and Wilson are producing. The former will produce through his Pin High Productions. Jac Schaeffer penned the screenplay.

Between Rebel Wilson and Jillian Bell, we should get to choose only one... there should only be one. Or none.

Re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Remake (S: Rebel Wilson)
All these gender reversal remakes might work if they have something going for them beyond merely changing the gender of the main character(s).
That's not working... because it's not enough to enforce the notion of equality of the sexes (because it's been a century and it's old... really old now) and doing a bad job of it. It's like watching propaganda. Particularly if your idea of equality is taking an attractive, competent, smart female role and turning it into a handsome, incompetent, dumb-as-a-brick male.
Most of the problem is that the potential audience is familiar with the original and how much more funny (entertaining) they were.
Maybe if gender reversal remakes brought something to the table that actually was relevant or dependent on the fact that the character(s) were female instead of male. Or would that be sexist?
Probably.

They'll be people that'll carry the outrage flag for those of us who couldn't care less. I'm not obsessed enough to post almost 50 times in a thread to repeatedly state I won't see a film yet claim it's terrible.

It's funny, I really enjoy the original only because my parents bought it on VHS and it was one of the few that we owned so I watched it a lot.
Dislike Rebel Wilson quite a bit, so i don't think much about this.

Re: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Remake (S: Rebel Wilson)
Anne Hathaway is in talks to join Rebel Wilson in MGM's remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to be titled Nasty Women.
The new take on the 1988 comedy (which starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine) will feature two women from different walks of life teaming up to con a tech prodigy out of his money.
Jac Schaeffer penned the script for MGM's new version, and also wrote the upcoming film The Shower, which stars Hathaway.
Wilson will produce the project along with Roger Birnbaum, who will produce under his Pin High Productions banner.
Hathaway, whose recent films include The Intern with Robert De Niro and Alice Through the Looking Glass, is already involved with another gender-swapping project: the new Ocean's Eleven female spinoff in production. She also stars in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Colossal. She's repped by CAA, Management 360 and Sloane, Offer.

Strange how it's never pointed out in these press releases that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was itself a remake.

With the exception of the funny dinner scene where Steve Martin has a cork on the end of his fork and shits himself, I never thought that version was all that great.
I have no interest in a Rebel Wilson version and I'm sure it'll be fairly easy to avoid. This has blink-and-you'll-miss-it-in-theaters written all over it.

I hope that this movie fails miserably. Rebel Wilson has two great talents. The ability to be unfunny and the ability to be incredibly unlikable.
