The Michael Larson episode. Great stuff. Hard to believe even after all these years he got away with this.

Edit: The YT poster disabled linking, you have to go directly to YT to watch. Worth it tho.

First time I've heard of/see this. Really interesting doco, quite like seeing stuff like this.

He didn't really do anything wrong though did he? Fair play to him for figuring out the system. I guess back then CBS didn't figure someone would be able to crack a 5 x 18 sequence (and more fool them - or well the game producers for having squares that never have a 'Whammy' on).

I remember the E Channel did a special on this around 2003, and it explained how he figured out at home that you just have to time it cause the board would always change in the same configuration. It's interesting how it took him a few tries to get his timing down and then he was unstoppable.

I also read something after watching where those two squares (4 & 8) always has the extra spin, along with no whammy. Once he got in the zone you can understand how long he went on.
You've actually got to give he a huge amount of credit too, to keep that concentration up for so long, with the added pressure of the TV studio.
Struggling with those last three spins, after he thought he was safe must've been hard to do also.

It's really no different than "card-counting".

Card counting isn't illegal, as long as you're doing it all in your head. It's just that casinos don't like you doing it, and can deny service for any (non-discriminatory) reason.
