Match Game: Alec Baldwin is a ____!

This show is great. Essentially it's a total remake of the 70's show, from the long microphone right down to the shag carpeting. Alec Baldwin is in top form, doing his best Gene Rayburn.

And yes, it's dirty. Even dirtier than the 70's version.

If you have to watch one of ABC's prime-time game shows this summer, definitely watch this. If not, watch it anyways.

Pyramid was probably my favorite game show as a kid, and while likeable Strahan is no Dick Clark this was definitely a better version than the early 00s version with Donny Osmond.

I really like the fact that they didn't change a single thing. They even kept the cheesy music. The only difference between this & the 70's version is that the panel is not sloshed.

I chuckled at how much it felt like Baldwin was doing an SNL sketch, at least in the beginning.

Those game shows in the 70s were a ton of fun. I'll have to check these out.

I loved it. Alec Baldwin was just gold. Definitely my favorite of the re-booted game shows (I watched them all.)

That was good. I had no idea who the 2 people bottom-center and bottom-right were.

I'm guessing Rosie will always get the final bonus question (much like Richard Dawson almost always did).

Re: Match Game: Alec Baldwin is a ____!

It was good, although you could tell they were encouraging the contestants to act a little crazy...just let stuff happen - planned "bits" just don't work.

Also, I worry with everything computerized that they're "allowing" contestants to make it to that final round. I don't know if game shows are monitored they way they used to be in the days of '21" anymore.

Bruce _____. The first things that popped into my head were "Wayne" and "Banner." Guess I would have lost.

Same here, but in the opposite order. What was the answer?

Willis and Springstein were the first 2 that popped into my head. Lee a moment later.

I loved that Password game myself. The Odd Couple episode where Felix and Oscar were in the game was funny.

Bottom right was Sutton Foster who starred on the show "Bunheads" (same producer as Gilmore Girls) and currently stars on "Younger", which is a really good TV Land show produced by Darren Star.

I haven't seen either, but she's hot and that's all that matters.

Nor was the original...which was on in the 1970s!

I didn't like last night's panel as much as the first episode. I guess Rosie will be there every week.

Is this shot in NYC? I'm assuming it is, since they seem to be getting talent that is associated with living there (Baldwin, Rosie, etc.).

I'm hoping Alec can get Tina Fey or some of his other 30 Rock friends on an episode.

Re: Match Game: Alec Baldwin is a ____!

I love this.

My favorite game show.

I even liked the 1990 version and the 5 panel version a few years later but realize they were pretty bad compared to the 70's version.

Tituss answered Bush as one of the blanks and not one that's in your yard.

I like to watch Pyramid but shows like that and Password arent as fun because unless you look away from the screen you can't play along.

Some of the, hmm what are they called on MG the questions? Well some of them are a little awkward as there doesn't seem to be a good or clear answer.
The writers need to look at the older ones and get some better ideas.

Hasn't been a dumb Doris one yet.

I watched the first 1990 ep hosted by Bert Convy and there was Trump question there just as the first ep this time also had.

Adam Goldberg and JB Smoove have no idea how to answer the clues.
Both gave a no answer on one of their answers.

It was much more subtle. No way would they come right out and say "drill that ass".

Re: Match Game: Alec Baldwin is a ____!

For some reason I find this show borderline surreal. The celebrities are all awkward, Baldwin is too, the set is full retro, the ultra bright lights and game setup make the whole thing seem fake, and yet it's pretty funny and enjoyable. Tituss is a good fit for this, he reminds me the most of the 70s crew.

Re: Match Game: Alec Baldwin is a ____!

Both "Match Game" and "The $100,000 Pyramid" are childhood favorites of mine and both of these "reboots" are retro home runs. Loved every minute of them. I hate the all-star "Family Feud" though. Boring as hell. I do like the regular "Family Feud" though that airs daily.
