The best character death in a tv show? (Spoilers)

I was watching
Spoiler:
Ramsey's death
in GoT and was thinking back on my tv shows and thinking of the great ways or tragic ways that some of my favorite characters died.

My all time is
Spoiler:
Mark Greene
on er. So well done and beautifully rendered. Love and have that rendition of Over the Rainbow. So good.

What character death was adeptly handled in a tv show and made you love it?

Also, the classic "Everyone's Waiting" from Six Feet Under. Heartbreaking and so sentimentally sweet.

Re: The best character death in a tv show? (Spoilers)

Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos.

I remember watching this one live, and even though this was still a few episodes away from the series finale, it showed that anyone was expendable in these last few hours of the greatest show ever. Not to mention I thought for sure Christopher was going to make it through the whole thing.

And it also showed just how low Tony will go to protect his business and family. The look in his eyes as he covers Christopher's mouth and nose is chilling.

Spoiler:
By that point in the show, fuck Chris. He was out of control, and Tony gave him many chances. And unbeknownst to him, Chris killed JT for no reason, which adds to that instability.

if there is any show that you would like to watch but haven't yet, don't read this thread, the show might get spoiled for you.

Yes, it would be a good idea to post in the form of:

Sopranos

Spoiler:
Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos.

I haven't seen SOA yet, but I managed to catch the title before I read anything about it, so haven't spoiled anything for myself.

I'm not saying people should have done this, because based on the thread title, you certainly will expect there to be spoilers.

I'm just saying it would be a considerate thing to do.

yes, that is the way to make posts in this thread so that people can contribute without risk of spoiling.

He was also thinking about Christopher's child when he glances over at Caitlyn's empty baby seat.

Thanks for the heads up.. didn't even think of spoiler.

Doctor Who:

Spoiler:
Adric. Really shocking to see a companion die in such a senseless way. And then The Doctor refused to go back in time to save him in the next episode. I was probably ten at the time, and seeing the credits roll silently over his crumbled star pin was a punch in the gut.

From Angel :

Spoiler:

When Lorne kills Lindsey McDonald. Lindsey seems more outraged that Angel wasn't the one to do it rather than actually dying.

Funny, er was the first to come to mind, but not who Oldboy said. Romano was the first thing that popped into my head. They fucked his character by chopping off his arm...a surgeon with one hand. What better way to fix it than
Spoiler:
drop a fucking helicopter on him.

Omar Epps' demise was also riveting on er.

Re: The best character death in a tv show? (Spoilers)

No character name(don't want to spoil it) but most shocking would be the season 1 finale of 24. Just when you think Jack saved the day, boom, roll credits.

However, GoT would be up there with the Mountain and the Viper scene. Holy shit. The reaction shot GIF of the actress on the show sums it up quite nicely. I'll have to add that GIF when I'm not on my phone.

Reaction gif:
