William Schallert, a familiar presence on prime-time television for decades, notably as the long-suffering father and uncle to the “identical cousins” played by Patty Duke on the hit 1960s sitcom “The Patty Duke Show,” died on Sunday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He was 93.

He was a busy, busy actor for decades. Solid, able to do both comedy and drama - a true professional.
And he guested on Star Trek in the 60's and the 90's!

I've seen him in tons of things, but I think I remember him most as Gidget's dad in the 80's remake.

Seems like he turned up in practically every Sci-Fi movie in the mid to late 50's and every TV show in the 60's and 70's.
I do remember him first as Patty Duke's father, but enjoyed his later role as the Mant in Joe Dante's movie-within-a-movie in Matinee.
