I don't care much for that song.

Love the video but the song is a freaking masterpiece. Ominous, epic, soaring and brilliant. Jonny Lee Greenwood has gone from the best guitarest going early on to an astonishing orchestrator. It goes without saying but DON'T listen to this without solid or better headphones. There's so much going on.

I may have to start getting back into Radiohead. They kind of lost me over the years. I haven't listened to them in a long time.

OK Computer will forever be one of my favorite albums, though.

I don't understand why the internet freaked out over the release of this. I generally like Radiohead, but they've become super boring. And the press acts like they are the greatest band ever.

^^ My feelings exactly. I've never thought they are great, but I've liked the couple of shows I've seen. That aside, eh. Not digging this new song at all, but I love the whole claymation Wicker Man thing.

Song is alright but that video is killer. Loved it.

Agreed about the press. I actually kind of like the song and video, which was surprising to me, so I'm open-minded about the album.
The only previous album I intend to go back and revisit is Kid A.

Agreed. Everything they do now is so calculated and orchestrated. I remember when they would just release a new album without all the hoopla and gimmicks.

Oh man, that song is a masterpiece. The string arrangements alone....awesome.

I dug the song, looking forward to a full new album.

I would really like Radiohead to one day make another album with traditional instruments...guitars, bass, drums. I do like their stuff with piano, synthesizers, orchestral pieces, etc...but I'd like another album like Pablo Honey or The Bends.

I've always thought that Radiohead might one day just scare the bajesus out of people are release a full on pop record at some point.

They are still in love with samples, loops and Johnny's amazing string arrangements popping out of nowhere. It's cohesive but other than Burn The Witch there really isn't anything memorable. Even the studio version of True Love Waits feels like its dying...which is a true shame.

That is how I feel. It sounds like Radiohead, but unremarkable.

I would put this in the upper echelon of Radiohead albums, along with OKC, KA and IR. It's brilliant. I would have paid the album price for The Numbers alone.

I can't rank it because I haven't listened to their albums much after Kid A. But yeah The Numbers is an awesome track.

Oasis and Radiohead rose through the ranks together in the ’90s, but over the last half decade, their careers have taken opposite trajectories. The former broke up in 2009, and while its two found members have worked tirelessly launching their own solo projects, all anyone wants to talk about is an Oasis reunion. The latter, meanwhile, not only remains active, but is arguably the most celebrated band in all of music. So you can understand why Noel Gallagher isn’t among those eagerly awaiting Radiohead’s ninth studio album.

In an interview with Esquire UK, Gallagher was asked if he was “aware” of the hierarchy of UK bands. He responded, “I’m aware that Radiohead have never had a fucking bad review. I reckon if Thom Yorke fucking shit into a light bulb and started blowing it like an empty beer bottle it’d probably get 9 out of 10 in fucking Mojo. I’m aware of that.”

Later, when discussing the backstory of “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and its subsequent legacy, Gallagher took another shot at the Radiohead frontman. “Technically, there’s better songwriters than I am. Guardian writers will tell you that. Have other people’s songs ever really touched a generation, though? Radiohead? When do people listen to them? Is it when they go out, or is it when they come in? Because I’m struggling to think.”

He continued, “Look, as soon as Thom Yorke writes a song as good as fucking ‘Mony Mony’, give us a fucking shout. Me and my missus, we were at the Coachella festival a couple of years ago and Radiohead were headlining. We were like, ‘Right, let’s give them one more chance. Let’s go and see them.’ Beautiful, sunny night. We walked out through the crowd as they came on, and they were playing this post-techno: ‘de-de de de.’ We were a bit pissed. Fucking great. And then he started singing. No. Not for us. We’re party people.”

I think the album is pretty okay. Better than Rainbows or Limbs. But nothing compared to Bends-OKC-KidA

I would agree. I love those 3 albums. I listened to Rainbows and Limbs several times and pretty much threw them in a corner never to return to them again.

Good stuff. But they're trying way too hard. Most music fans would kill for them to just make good songs again.

It's an okay album. Nothing for me will ever come close to the trifecta of The Bends/OK Computer/Kid A though. Three masterpieces in a row.

And Noel Gallagher is fucking hilarious.

The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac are all 10/10 for me. Hail To The Thief would probably get the same minus 5 or so songs. I really enjoy the new album so far. Much more so than King Of Limbs which was a grower which I still would only give 6/10.

Listened to it enough times to form an opinion: it's fine.

They've just be repeating themselves. Their first 4 or 5 albums were pretty different from each other, but their last 4 have been very similar, and not in a good way. I just hope for another Bends... writing good cohesive songs, like on Bends, is far more difficult than the atmospheric wankery they've been doing lately.

The band couldn't have dumb enough to not get permission from the copyright holder when they made the video could they?
