DC's Legends of Tomorrow (S1E12) -- "Last Refuge" -- 4/21/16
THURSDAY, APRIL 21
DC'S Legends of Tomorrow
"Last Refuge" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)
RIP'S BACKSTORY IS REVEALED - The team is targeted by The Pilgrim (guest star Faye Kingslee), a deadly assassin who wants to erase the Legends from the timeline by killing their younger, non-superhero selves. As a protective countermeasure, Rip (Arthur Darvill) decides Sara (Caity Lotz), Snart (Wentworth Miller), Rory (Dominic Purcell), Professor Stein (Victor Garber) and Jax (Franz Drameh) need to kidnap their past selves first before The Pilgrim gets to them. Coming face-to-face with the younger versions of themselves proves to be both a physical and emotional challenge for certain members of the team who would rather forget their past. Rip tells them he has a refuge for their precious cargo - an orphanage that raises future Time Masters and where he himself grew up. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Chris Fedak & Matthew Maala (#112). Original airdate 4/21/2016.

But of course doing the same (finding the younger version, or even taking out the mother ala Terminator) for Savage has never occurred to the team.

None of this episode made much sense to me. I'm beginning to lose interest now.

They really dragged out that fight scene as the woman stopped time. The scene must have spun around the frozen heroes three or four times. It did look cool, but still.
The time travel rules on this show even makes the Flash's odd rules look smart.

The Pilgrim was a wildstorm universe character right?

at younger Rip Hunter stabbing Pilgrim.
Loved Paul Blackthorne's awful wig.
Thought it was a fun episode with the time traveling and meeting the younger versions. But then again, they just seem to be going around in circles and aren't really hitting their objective.
I do hope this Savage arc gets resolved by the finale.

In the comics aren't the Time Masters supposed to be a force for good/order? I don't particularly recall them ever being depicted as malicious or bad as they seem to be here.

This show hasn't been that great at making a coherent depiction of the Time Masters. They mostly protect the time line from...malicious time travelers. For the most part, the group is really only around to give Rip Hunter something to do. Rip Hunter and the Time Masters really don't have any classic runs or iconic versions in the comics, he's been changed time after time over the decades. So it's not easy giving a pat answer.

The Flash/Arrowverse seem to be using multiple iterations of their characters, so essentially they're just using whatever's best to fit the plot. I wouldn't be surprised if Rip is still the son of Booster (no need to spoil it, every DC fan knows)- it will just never come up because he's not active in the Arrowverse.

Odd Q - am trying to catch up on this but neither Comcast, Hulu or even CW's site has episodes 107 or 108? Anyone hazard a guess why?

You're in a time machine, but you can't go back to the same time you initially left? wtf

The time travel aspects of this show are getting so convoluted but it's still an entertaining show with cool characters
The bass during the fight scene was awesome for a tv show !

I'll finish this season out as it only has 4 more episodes, but it's been 12 episodes so far and hasn't improved any so I won't be tuning in for next season if it happens.

I can't blame anyone for bailing on LOT. At least Arrow still has the occasionally great episode. I would expect fairly big changes for season two.
