Shows you're not sure why you watch?

So lately I've been thinking about this. I watch a couple shows but I'm not sure why. I don't really enjoy them. I kinda have in background but it is so bizarre to me.

I watch Togetherness and Girls. I've been watching both since inception. Girls has gotten hit or miss for me and I ultimately really don't enjoy it except for Allison Williams. So I watch them don't quite enjoy them and really not sure why I watch them...

You guys have any shows you watch but not quite sure why?

NCIS:NO - I like the other two shows but somehow this one is lacking something. I guess I watch hoping it will get better

Nope. If I stop enjoying a show I stop watching it.

The Flash crossover will probably be the last Supergirl for me.

I wonder about The Walking Dead, and doubt I will watch Fear the Walking Dead when it returns.

I am really not enjoying Trevor Noah enough to make The Daily Show daily viewing.

New Girl is getting old.

So many...

Scorpion
Blindspot
How to Get Away with Murder
Quantico
Grandfathered
The Grinder
Finding Bigfoot
The 100
Zoo
Extant (RIP)
Under the Dome (RIP)

I would have said The Blacklist last season, but it's gotten better this season.

Bob's Burgers - it's not really my kind of humor, the music is cheesy, but I've seen every episode. It's like I won't give up until I see a funny episode.

This.

I quit on Arrow, Shameless, etc. and don't miss them.

There are just too many great shows to watch something that is so bad or even average.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

Grimm - I think I am just watching it because it is such a train wreck now.

Spoiler:
I mean a hexenbeast, Adalind, poses as Nick's fiancée to sleep with Nick and gets pregnant. Adalind puts a spell on a cat that scratches Nick's fiancée and places her in a coma. Nick's fiancée gets out of the coma by turning into a Hexenbeast that goes crazy. Nick's fiancée is killed before she kills Nick. Adalind loses her powers, moves in with Nick with his baby, and they start sleeping together. Nick's fiancée comes back to life as a secret agent hexenbeast and works with Nick to fight crime.

Can it get more stupid? I am just fascinated (curious?) to see how this convoluted plot can be wrapped up. I should really stop watching. /nod

Humor is obviously very subjective, but I find Bob's Burgers to be consistently hilarious. I look forward to it every week. It's had a few clunkers certainly, but by and large I love it.

I used to but now I've learned to just drop them. For me it's mostly the cooking comp shows. I used to watch all of them. Most now just get deleted (other than Top Chef).

I won't say it stinks, but I do watch it every week waiting for it to start being good because the people making it are all so great.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

Hawaii Five-0 and 2 Broke Girls. Especially 2 Broke Girls. It sucks, I know it sucks, you all don't need to tell me it sucks. Don't get a single laugh anymore, and I hate how Jennifer Coolidge gets applause (canned?) just for appearing.

Hawaii Five-0 I just watched because two of the stars have come to the film festival I work for. But I think my obligation to still watch their show is done now.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

I stuck with Supernatural for 9 seasons before stopping watching it at the end of the 9th season when its quality decline was too apparent for me to ignore anymore.

But now my niece is a fan of the show because of her best friend already being a fan and she binge marathon-ed it to get caught up. She was surprised when I told her I stopped watching the show and, given that it's a way to connect with her, I'm going to go ahead and start watching the show again. I'm surprised by how much I dread getting caught up, given how much I used to look forward to the show during its better years (which was the first 5 seasons).

I've watched 2 Broke Girls since the Pilot. While the humor can be really dumb at times, Kat and Beth have great chemistry together and play off each other well even with the lamest jokes.

Agree about Jennifer Coolidge. Don't know why there's applause and cheers whenever she appears in camera the 1st time. She and Oleg are easily the worst part of the show.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

Sleepy Hollow & all the CBS AARP targeted procedurals.

I guess I'm a completest that wants to have seen them all when they conclude like we did CSI. But they are certainly last on our DVR priority list. We're way behind on most of the CBS shows.

I know on message boards like this folks complain all the time that the CBS crime procedurals are boring, predictable and only old people like to watch them. Yet, they are still some of the highest rated shows on television. NCIS is still one of the most watched shows on TV in season 13 and got renewed through season 15.

However, a lot of these new, high concept serial dramas get mediocre/crappy ratings and most don't survive beyond 1-2 seasons.

While CBS's formula to many seems stale, it's a formula that works. People still enjoy watching procedurals and have trouble getting into serial dramas.

Going back to me:

I still watch The Voice in season 10 even though I know the winner will never become a star. I know the show doesn't have much of an active fanbase here. There have been times where I thought about quitting because watching 3-6 hours of shows per week became really daunting. But, I've stuck with it somehow.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

I have no idea why I still watch The Americans. It just bores the hell out of me and it's a chore to watch each episode. I often let them pile up and then have to force myself to watch two or three at a time just to clear up space. And it's not even a show I can casually watch while playing on my phone because of the stupid Russian!

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

The only time i do this is during the summer when there is nothing on and very few new content.

Last summer I watched Humans & Fear of the Walking Dead and thought they were OK shows, but never would have watched if it were the fall or spring when all the great shows are on and my DVR is full.

Re: Shows you're not sure why you watch?

I only really have a couple and they're mostly throwaway shows I just have on for background noise.

Family Guy- it can be funny but a lot of times I just find it too stupid and question why I continue watching it.
Pawn Stars- fun to watch on occasion but not a great show. The stupid added comedy segments are annoying. Curious what it's fate will be with the recent Chumlee issues.
