Same here...ordered placed 9/4, still has a status of "On Order". I'll be calling them tomorrow to get their side of the story.

Argh -- almost a week after the release date and still no Spinal Tap.
I bitched to Buy.com and they told me:
We have contacted our warehouse and they have informed us that sku
#40140863 will ship either 09/15 or 09/17.
They didn't address my main point, though. I griped that most of my Buy.com pre-orders have been delayed like this ("Last Temptation of Christ" got to me a month after the release date!) My point to them: What's the point of pre-ordering a DVD if you can't get it on or near the release date?
The nagging little conspiracy-theorist in my head argues that this has something to do with coupons. Is it possible they're hoping we'll cancel?

On backorder, no estimate as to when it will arrive.

FYI, you may just want to check other threads around here. I believe that ALL etailers were shorted on their orders. That would explain some receiving the item and others not.
Think I saw something about it a few weeks ago.

Do you mean "Spinal Tap" specifically was shorted, or all/most DVD titles? The only thing I've seen about "Tap" was the title snafu, but that the vendor fixed the problem in time for the release date.
Either way, I've cancelled my Buy.com order -- 800.com had it for only a couple cents more.
The irritating thing is that Buy.com states that when something is "On Order" they will notify you by e-mail. ("We'll send you emails updating you on the status of your order.") I hadn't heard a peep until I complained about the delay. This is the real reason why I'm angry -- I can understand if they're dicked by their supplier, but I'm P.O.ed they didn't 'fess up when this happened.
I've ordered a lot of different stuff from Buy.com, and this only seems to be an issue with their DVDs. Still, in principle, I've given up on them across the board.
Even more, I encourage everyone who has had similar experiences to cancel their orders, "Tap" or otherwise.
And they still list "Tap" as shipping in 24-48 hours!

WHy don't you call their phone number and ask like I did?
...
They told me that the whole first shipment was damaged (CSR bull-shitting me) and that they will be getting a new shipment 'soon'.
Either way, I don't mind as I got it for about 14 bux w/ coupons. I can wait.
