Hello,

There are currently two titles I wish to preorder at Amazon, however their Suggested Retail Price is higher than the actual SRP:

Princess Mononoke:
Amazon SPR $34.99
Actual SRP: $32.99

Black Narcissus Criterion:
Amazon SRP: $39.99
Actual SRP: $29.99

I've emailed them several times asking them to change the prices, but they have yet to either do so or answer me. Is there any other way compel them? Thanks.

Only two things you can do: 1) don't buy these titles unless the SRP is reduced; or 2) shop elsewhere. Remember that a seller has the right to sell its product for any price it wants. You, as a consumer, have the right to buy at the listed price, or not to buy at all.

"Suggested retail price" is just that, suggested. Amazon is under no obligation to sell at or below that price, although it's pretty strange that they wouldn't (and foolish).

Amazon usually puts up SRP's that are their best guesses. When the correct price is known, they change it. They had Monty Python Set 7 for $44.95 because all the other sets were that price, it was then changed to $39.95. The two Fly two-fers were changed at the last minute. With the Criterion titles, most are $39.95, a few being $29.95. I'm sure Black Narcissus will change soon. Give them a little time. Go ahead and pre-order something. When the price is reduced, call them and they'll adjust it. Or just cancel it and re-order it.

You are somewhat off the mark.

The problem is that Amazon, like other retailers, bases their prices on MSRP. Some times they charge MSRP, sometimes they charge X% off. (And of course, they could and would charge over MSRP if they felt that was in their best interest.) What's happening here is that Amazon has the incorrect MSRP. This is different from charging above MSRP, in that it misleads customers into thinking they're getting a bigger bargain than they are.
