Seeing a ton of ads for this lately, since the debut is a little over a week away. I didn't realize how sick I've become of Paul Giamatti playing the same character until I repeatedly saw him sneering in these ads. Might watch regardless. Reviews I've read have been positive.

Between this, Ray Donovan, and House of Lies, Showtime really wants to be the rich asshole network, don't they?

Billions (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/17/16
BILLIONS – Episode 101 – Pilot
Premiere Date: January 17, 2016
Written by Brian Koppelman & David Levien & Andrew Ross Sorkin
Directed by Neil Burger
Chuck Rhoades, the powerful U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, is tipped to a case of insider trading with links to Axe Capital and the billionaire hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod. This sets Chuck on a collision course with one of the most powerful men on Wall Street. While it could be a career-defining case for Chuck, he must tread carefully, because his wife, Wendy Rhoades, is the in-house performance coach at Axe Capital and Axe’s key confidante. But a costly purchase by Axe gives Chuck the opening he needs, setting off a cat and mouse game where the stakes are high and intensely personal.

Just set my DVR for this. Looks like it could be pretty good. If not, at least I can cancel Showtime till next season of Homeland...

I watched the first episode last week. It was pretty meh.
But I'll forgive it since the first episode has to set things up - so it needs a bit of time to get going. Hopefully it actually gets interesting soon.

I've read a few reviews that indicate this takes a while to get going. Perhaps Showtime knew this and sent out screeners for more episodes than what they typically do? Are people patient enough to give it a month and a half? We'll see.
I plan to catch last night's episode sometime this week.

I liked it... it had its moments. I could've done w/o the bondage sex part.

The second episode was a bit better. I'll continue watching for now in the hopes that it gets much better.
One thing I remember from the first episode that I found funny/dumb... Bobby's got a fish-bowl office (ie . front glass walls), and yet he has a secret safe hidden behind a wall tile. Not much of a secret when anyone passing by can see you open it.

I thought it wasn't bad as it definetly was a setup episode for the series. It is sort of refreshing that someone out there isn't going full throttle in the pilot episode and throwing everything at you at once. I guess in this day and age of so many TV shows they fear they will lose the viewer if the pilot episode doesn't knock it out of the park.
I do love all of the actors on the show as its a great cast.

It bugged me that Giamatti said "attorney generals". Shouldn't it be "attorneys general"? After all they're not generals.
