American Crime (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/6/16

ISSUES OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND SOCIOECONOMIC DISPARITY COLLIDE WHEN LURID PHOTOS OF A HIGH SCHOOL BOY ARE POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWING A SCHOOL PARTY, ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF ABC'S "AMERICAN CRIME"

Issues of sexual orientation and socioeconomic disparity come to a roil when lurid photos of a high school boy, Taylor Blaine, are posted on social media following a school party, on the season premiere of "American Crime," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network.

In the season premiere episode, "Season Two: Episode One," after the shocking photos of Taylor are posted, circumstances become more complicated when he accuses two players on an elite private high school's championship basketball team - Kevin LaCroix and Eric Tanner - of drugging, assaulting and then posting the pictures of him online. The team's head coach, Dan Sullivan, tries to unite the players while overlooking the dysfunction of his own family. Headmistress Leslie Graham struggles to maintain the school's reputation in the face of these accusations of privilege and cover up. Taylor's mother, Anne, remains a steadfast supporter of her son despite being publicly assailed by the school's wealthy families. Taylor's girlfriend, Evy, deals with racial tension at her own school, led by Principal Chris Dixon. And while the two schools at the center of the story are worlds apart in status, the lives of the students and teachers at both become inextricably linked.

"American Crime" stars Felicity Huffman as Leslie Graham, Timothy Hutton as Dan Sullivan, Lili Taylor as Anne Blaine, Elvis Nolasco as Chris Dixon, Trevor Jackson as Kevin LaCroix, Connor Jessup as Taylor Blaine, Joey Pollari as Eric Tanner, Angelique Rivera as Evy Dominguez and Regina King as Terri LaCroix.

Guest starring are Andre Benjamin as Michael LaCroix, Hope Davis as Steph Sullivan, Faran Tahir as Rhys Bashir, Sky Van Vliet as Becca Sullivan, Osvaldo Fernandez as Javier Dominguez, Andre Williams as LeSean, Michael Seitz as Wes, Mone't Chandler as Val Wright, Adriene Misher as choreographer, Chuck Huber as Dean Hanson, Christina Romero as Marie Dominguez, Karina D. Smith as Mrs. Hicks, Jenna Juul-Hansen as Ms. Reid, Michael Gardner as Officer Simmons, Barri Pearson as pep band - rapper, Pierce Bailey as dancer #1, Delaney Jaclyn Handl as dancer #2, Jason Small as Wayne, Chance Hartman as 911 operator (vo), LaTasha Lee Robinson as banquet band #1 - singer, Caitlin A. McGee as cheerleader and James Shuffield as Eagles coach.

"Season Two: Episode One" was written and directed by John Ridley.

"American Crime" was created and executive produced by Oscar-winner John Ridley ("12 Years a Slave"). Michael J. McDonald also serves as executive producer. "American Crime" is produced by ABC Studios.

10 episode 2nd season

Season 1 was low rated, but critically acclaimed. It was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards last season and Regina King won for Best Supporting actress.

Loved the 1st season. Cable-quality show. Not many people here watched though.

This is a self contained story arc, so you don't need to see season 1 to watch this. Several actors including Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman are returning playing different characters.

I thought the premiere was ok. I know the show in the first season was a bit slow pace, but in the s2 premiere it was bit annoying in some parts. I'm in for the season because the story will unravel and I think Lili Taylor a great addition for this season.

Pretty sure Lili Taylor was in season 1 as well. Didn't realize they were playing different characters - so a similar setup as FX American Horror Story. DVR'd this and will likely watch over the weekend. Enjoyed season 1.

Oh I forget about her season 1 role as the lawyer or counselor who tried to Huffman's season 1 character.

Re: American Crime (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/6/16

Watched episode 1 earlier.

It was a little slow, but they set up a potentially interesting arc. A rape of a male is not something you see chronicled in TV much. I have a feeling there's a lot more twisted stuff to the story. I thought Lili Taylor was good as the Mom. I think the son might be gay and may be having a fling with a member of the team that got covered up.

Kind of weird seeing Hutton and Huffman playing completely different characters. Same with Regina King.

I watched episodes 2 and 3 last night. The pace has picked up and it's fun seeing Regina King play a bitch this season.

Watcing ep 1 now.

Might be tough to get through.
Not because of the rape thing but because of how angry Huffman's character
makes me feel.

Making the victim seem to be the reason anything happened.

BTW $20k a year for high school? I had no idea.

I've only watched the first two episodes thus far, but I like it so far. I got a chuckle out of the opening sequence in the premiere - where they literally teased us with several 'cliche' scenarios that could play out as the potential crime. Basketball confrontation, taking pictures of high school girls, etc.

Good start to season 2. Don't know how it's gonna play out but I already feel for Kevin. Torn between the girl he seems to really like and his mother who thinks she's just a gold-digger. And now being thrown into this mess which may have had nothing to do with him.

Also, I'm really enjoying Elvis Nolasco. Such a 180 from his role last season. I hope to see more of him in other projects.

Just finished this season on Netflix. I was expecting another episode or two to wrap things up. Kind of an abrupt ending
