I just visited their website. They have Final Destination DVD - Will be available on September 26. Then underneath it, it says "Usually ships within 24hours." This is the first time I've purchased a DVD from them.
If they don't ship them out early (which is what i thought originally), then do they at least ship them on time - receive on the street date?
Thanks

Actually, my last several pre-orders from them have shipped early. Most recently, I received A&C Meet Frankenstein and The Invisible Man on the Saturday before street date! (They shipped them Priority Mail, too, for some reason.)
Perhaps their near-demise has prompted them to get their act together. Or perhaps I've just been lucky.

They usually don't, but I was surprised when my last two order shipped the Friday before and I got them on Monday a day before release. I don't know if I was just lucky or this is a new policy for them.

I have a lot of CDNow experience, and they have been all over the place in terms of delivering pre-orders. I have, upon occasion, received DVDs before street date. The Sixth Sense and the Limey were late. Never Cry Wolf came two months late. The Eyes of Laura Mars never came at all.
Inconsistency is the shipping motto of CDNow.

I got Space Jam:SE early.
Here's a valuable tip people.. so read carefully..
If you want to get your pre-orders early.
1) pre-order your item and pay for it
2) try to cancel it immediately
3) when you don't get a response send a message to CS asking if they can cancel it.
4) CS will say that it's already being processed and that they will see if they can cancel it.
5) check your account and you'll see it has just been shipped
