I think the writers are getting the beats better. I know it's too late, but they should have cast Jenna Dewan (Lucy Lane) as Supergirl's sister. They need to figure out a way to keep Lucy on the show full time. I have a hunch she was introduced only to be kept around for a short while. Hopefully that plan has changed.
I love seeing the little moments like Supergirl flying around. After decades of shows that did everything possible to keep their heroes out of costume, we are getting tons of Supergirl in full action. Please keep that up.
I had never heard that actor's native accent playing T.O. Morrow before this episode, he's been around in a lot of things. They are not skimping on the budget, even token roles are getting fairly expensive guest actors.
As for Red Tornado, he looked fine when he was levitating with his cyclones. It would have looked better if he had remained floating the entire time. They definitely avoided any comic book trappings introducing him.
He looked pretty bad at all other times. I guess they were planning ahead with his outfit from a practical standpoint, if the character ever came back.

Didn't like the Red Tornado costume. I like the one posted by PhantomStranger. Unlike PS though, I'm not a fan of Lucy. I hope she heads back to Metropolis soon. I like the actress playing Alex(bonus, looked great in the tight jeans at the beginning of the ep.).
I usually don't let the silly stuff get in the way of my enjoyment on shows like this but two scenes bugged the crap out of me. First Supergirl saves a crosswalk full of kids and is assaulted by a man and her public image is tarnished? Wha? Lazy writing. Second, General Lane blaming Supergirl for his robot soldier going rogue and getting pissed at her AFTER she saves his and his daughter's life. Get the fuck out.
Lastly I loved the emotion portrayed by Benoist during the final Red Tornado battle. Good shit.

General Lane's MO has always been to blame superheroes whenever they show up.
I am interested in seeing where they take Alex and Maxwell Lord together.

Best episode to date. Benoist is really growing into the part and I'm digging the build up to what happened to Dean Cain.
Is it just me or did Maxwell Lord use some mental hoodoo on Alex?

Great episode. Looks like they are taking a page from recent Superman and his solar flare. Basically using all their energy at once and then being human for a day during the re-charge.

Good catch! I remember reading the Superman could do that now in the comics, but I totally didn't make the connection that that's probably what allowed her get cut.

Awesome episode. Supegirl's fight with Red Tornado at the end with her heat vision and anger intensifying was pretty well done. Cat Grant has actually grown more likable in recent weeks. In the past, Calista was skin and bones, but she's actually looking healthier the more I see her.
Didn't realize that Lucy Lane was a major in the army. Glenn Moreshower (Aaron Pierce from 24) was a perfect choice to play General Lane. I remember Michael Ironside played him in Smallville.
BTW, this was posted yesterday. It's Melissa, Chyler and David Harewood thanking the fans for the full season pickup.

It wasn't a great scene as written. The kids saw everything that happened in front of them. Why would bystanders suddenly turn on Supergirl? There was no good reason.
The thing that made me cringe was the "exercise" Kara received boxing alongside Jimmy. I realize it was a character beat meant to draw them closer together but it looked silly. Kara, you are invulnerable. Fly to the dark side of the moon and wail on something there if you want.

I thought T.O. Morrow created Amazo first and then created Red Tornado afterwards (or do I have that backwards?). I guess there's no point in creating Amazo if the Justice League doesn't exist yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see an Amazo created by Lord from that arm he now has.
