Looks like pure Oscar bait to me. I don't like Redmayne that much, though I did like The Theory of Everything. I really like Vikander. Her career has been great so far. Tom Hooper is overrated in my opinion.

It does look like really good Oscar bait though. Redmayne would be a shoo-in for the Best Actor Oscar if he hadn't already won last year. The path looks clear for Leo to take it as all of the other competition has fallen by the wayside.

Why is Alicia Vikander in everything all of a sudden? She was good in Ex Machina but she's not that good.

Great visuals and a standout performance by Vikander, but the story itself is too-controllingly predictable. Redmayne is good as always, but it's a variation on a theme. If you saw The Theory of Everything, you'll recognize quite a few similarities here.
