Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... FURIA. #HappyFurianFriday

Nice!
My order of preference is:
Pitch Black
Riddick
Chronicles of Riddick
Dark Fury
-I never did play the video game, so don't know if that was canon with what happened in the film/animated universe.

I thought the original PB was very good. Riddick covered a lot of the same ground and wasnt as good a film but was still enjoyable. COR was a mess.

This series ran into a classic problem for pro wrestling: how to handle a "bad guy" when the audience wants to cheer for him. In the case of Riddick, though, he wasn't necessarily a bad guy, just ruthless in his desire to survive. Johns always talked about how awful Riddick was, but in PB we never really saw Riddick's awfulness. He played mind games with Fry but Johns was the villain.
With COR they tried to make an anti-hero into a hero. Didn't work. Riddick should never have left the planet after he arrived, the whole plot thread with the mercs on Crematoria was pointless and a distraction. Kyra was pretty fine, though.
Also part of the problem was Twohy wanted a PG-13 for COR. That was a mistake. Riddick got back to the nastiness, although I thought the whole bit with the dog was silly.

Riddick was a let down for me, I thought it was pretty weak compared to the previous movies. That said, i'm easily down for more.

Not even. At least CoR aspired to be something great. Riddick was pretty flat through and through. I watched it just a few months ago and barely remember most of it.

Ever the master of social media, megastar Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page for an unannounced live video on Tuesday in which he teased to nearly 200,000 viewers his “special guest” which turned out to be David Twohy, the mastermind behind the Riddick franchise. You can check out the full video below, which revealed that they will start filming the new fourth chapter titled Furia in early 2017 (after Diesel gets his newborn child Pauline up and walking), that it will be an origin story of where Riddick comes from, what rating they are aiming for, as well as news on the spin-off series “Merc City.”
“Are you guys excited to hear about ‘Furia’? Do you want to know where it all began with that dark character Riddick?” Diesel said. “I dunno if ‘Furia’ is rated R, it might be a little more expansive in its mythology, it may call for…”
“It’ll be rated R,” Twohy stated bluntly.

I like the Riddick series, but I'm hoping for something a bit different this time around. Every film so far has felt like it's pretty much the same scenario over and over.
