Apparently the Chinese distribution rights is what is helping cover production costs.

Hopefully it's better than the last one.

I've liked all of them so far so I'm in for the new one. My main complaint with the third film was that they downplayed the older cast aside from Stallone to focus on the younger cast. I sort of wonder if eventually the older cast members will be phased out for a younger group. I wouldn't have a problem with that so much but a lot of the younger cast members they get aren't that great.

Seems to be becoming a norm for big film projects to be invested by large Chinese companies. The recent ones have been Transformers 4, Avengers 2, Mission Impossible 5 & Southpaw. I would assume this would give weight to Chinese producers towards the content of these films, i.e., neither plot nor scene is to exist that would put the Chinese government or the country itself in a bad light.

Eh. They need to actually make them good. Shit. They're not even action movies worth giving a damn about.
I'm still holding onto that they can make an honest to white baby jesus good movie w/ the basic concept for the franchise.
Last one was pretty boring.

All 3 very much pale in comparison to Rambo IV.

I'm still waiting for a U.S. remake of the Hong Kong all-female action film SO CLOSE (2001) with Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence as the sisters played by Shu Qi and Vicki Zhao Wei, and Rooney Mara as the cop played by Karen Mok.

I loved the third Expendables. OK, loved is an exaggeration, but I liked it. Expendables 3 is my favorite Expendables movie. I loved both Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas in that one.
