American Horror Story: Hotel (S5E01) - "Checking In" - 10/7/15
American Horror Story: Hotel Chapter Descriptions Chapter 1 / Production #501 - "Checking In" (Airs October 7, 10:00 pm e/p) - Detective and family man John Lowe investigates a chain of gruesome murders in Los Angeles. A mysterious tip points him to the enigmatic Hotel Cortez. Written by Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk; directed by Ryan Murphy.
The 13-episode fifth installment of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning franchise, American Horror Story: Hotel, premieres on FX on October 7th. American Horror Story: Hotel features an all-star cast of Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock. Ryan Murphy serves as Co-Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, Writer and Director of American Horror Story: Hotel and Brad Falchuk is Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Writer. Tim Minear, Brad Buecker, Jennifer Salt, James Wong and Alexis Martin Woodall also serve as Executive Producers.

Looking forward to it. This will be my first season watching live (haven't watched 4 yet). Also, I love Lady Gaga, so I'm interested to see how she does in this.

I will give this season a chance. I watched maybe 4 or 5 last year before I bailed. I didn't really care too much for Coven either, but stuck with it. To me, it's just another case of a Ryan Murphy show starting off great and then falling apart.

Yep. I slogged through the last two seasons. Freak Show was slightly better than Coven. I'll give this season a chance hoping it can recapture the magic of seasons 1 and 2, but my expectations are low.

I'm in. I think the problem with the last two seasons is that the third act of each went in a totally different direction than what the audiences wanted. I hope thats fixed here.

Conceptually, this is closer to Season 1 and Season 2 which bodes well, hope it's decent.

I've watched all the previous seasons, so I know I'll be watching this one. I've been a bit disappointed in the last two seasons, especially the tail end of those seasons. I can't stand Lady Gaga, but I'm open to this new story. Looking forward to it.

I don't usually bail on shows. But if they open with 90 minutes, and by December we're getting sudden character introductions like NPH, or Stevie Nicks music videos, this will be my final go-around with AHS

I also thought Freak Show was better than Coven. Coven has been the only season I haven't rewatched.

Yeah, last season was pretty bad all over the place. I'm making this my final if it gets bad, shit, I may even bounce before the season is over if it's like last year.

As I've said before AHS has a habit of starting off alright, but it always ends up a mess before the season is over.
I've still managed to complete all the seasons so far, but I'm honestly not even looking forward to this season and while I will give it a chance, if it doesn't fare well this will be the last season for me.

This show is a Halloween season right-of-passage for me... but if it goes all disjointed by episode 6, I may have to bail. Last season and Coven were a mess near the end.

Solid premiere. The creep factor was all over this one. That Lady Gaga / Neal Caffrey scene with the other couple....yikes!

I dunno, I thought it was a hot mess of concepts thrown together. I'm still looking for the plot in that 90 minutes and a bunch of shock scenes doesn't make for much watching.
Also, can Ryan Murphy even try to cast male actors that don't look exactly a like? I really started getting confused with the male characters in this.

I think I'll wait and binge watch this if it turns out good. I usually try to finish out a season once I start and I could only make it through 2/3 of last year.

It was a bit disjointed, but you do need a few different plotlines to sustain a 13-episode run. Would be nice if they all converge, but past seasons of AHS have proved that the exact opposite tends to happen.
Pretty graphic sex/murder scene. I'd point out that the female victim has gone full frontal on the Skinemax show The Girl's Guide to Depravity, yet oddly her AHS scene may have been more explicit.

I liked the premiere despite several storylines being packed in. The last few minutes of the premiere, are the reason I'll keep watching. I want to see how the stuff with Lady Gaga's character is explained. It was a bit fun to see Marcy the realtor from season 1 popping up here.

That murder/orgy scene with Bomer and Gaga was pretty graphic. Definitely an R rated scene.
Very weird, yet interesting 1st episode. Some creepy elements. Let's just see if they can sustain it for 12 more episodes. I did like seeing that back story scene with Bates, Bomer and Paulson.
Those poor Euro girls from the opening. I figured 2 hot dumb blondes were screwed as soon as they were introduce.

I'd also add that there also too many damned blond women on AHS:H, too. When they're running this sort of plot vomit where there are a dozen different thing happening at once, it makes it really difficult to follow what's happening.

She doesn't bug me when she isn't doing pop music/pop art.
Bomer and Bentley (first and last) have a similar look, and the dude in the middle looks like their evil offspring. Greenfield and Jackson not so much.
