If they're dropping the episode order to 10 maybe we'll get a lot less boring fluff.

If they continue to follow the plot outline of the books, there should be plenty of action to come (with a huge shakeup):
Spoiler:
season 3 ending with global thermonuclear war with a big time jump for seasons 4 and 5 set in a world of nuclear winter ruled completely by vampires.

Well, looks like I can't count on having read the books to know which major characters survive until the end

Tell me how does Eph manage to pull a hand-gun from a bag and kill a feeler that is charging him with a single shot to the head but he's been completely unable to hit targets that are standing still with a high powered rifle?

He's far beyond stupid, he's a willing accomplice to murder. He'll willingly do the Master's bidding, even kill his father, to feed his insane need for a "mother".

So much for my theory that Zach would finally redeem himself by being the one to murder his mom. That would have been the only satisfying development of his character. Especially if he did so in order to save his "new" mother.

I was hoping Zach would kill his mom with that dagger last minute, but we all knew this was Zach; the dumbest kid to ever live, so it was to be expected he'd drop the dagger and run away with his mothers corpse that is being controlled by the master. It's pretty obvious the master will use Zach as a trap for Eph and the gang next season. I just hope Eph realizes there is no hope for the kid and lets him rot instead; or decides the world is more important and offs the kid.

Dumb would imply he doesn't know his mother is a walking corpse that just murdered the woman protecting him. No, he's not dumb, he's evil.

Also, pay attention to what Nora told Eph. She lied about Zach. She said Zach was taken by Kelly, when in fact Zach sacrificed Nora and willingly left with Kelly. This bit of misinformation will end up biting Eph in the nether regions.

He begged his mom not to kill Nora; although by that point she was already infected.

I don't see his actions as evil, rather that he knew his mother was infected, yet was dumb enough to believe the mother he knew was still there somewhere.

As for the taken / willing. Either way, he's with her. If he didn't go, she'd have made him anyhow. Eph's still Zach's father and regardless of the reason Zach being gone; he'd still go after him. That's what fathers do, so in the end it still wouldn't change anything as to how Eph would handle the situation.

This will backfire on The Master. Zach will unintentionally screw up all of the Master's plans from within, while whining and complaining and generally making life a living hell for Team Master. The Master will be begging Eph to take him back in not too long

So what, too late. She wouldn't have been infected if he hadn't made Nora hesitate.

It makes all the difference in the world. If my kid was taken I do one thing. If I believe he went willingly and got my girlfriend killed that's another ball of vengeance. He pointedly ignored a dying Nora so he could pursue his mommy delusion. Blood only gets you so much, this kid is beyond saving in my book and should be in Eph's.

Good stuff. See, I told y'all that auction scene would be awesome. Good to see Angel wearing the mask. The Eichorst/Palmer/Master scene was cool, too.

I think Nora's
Spoiler:
death scene
was really well done. Very stylish and very cool.

Gotta wait until July for season 3.

Yeah that was an odd thing to change..

Spoiler:
i mean, at the end of the day i guess Nora's death doesn'T really matter, it's just that she actually makes it to the very end and she's a survivor and has a baby with Fet! lol, so plot wise i guess nothing changes except romantic subplots which doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things

Palmer so grossly overplayed his hand. I'm amazed that somebody could rise to his position and not understand the Master owns him.

The deaths (Coco and Nora) and absences (Dutch) along with a shorter episode order next year strongly suggest we're seeing a salary dump to cut costs.

The auction scene was also only 2-3 minutes long. In the book it's an entire chapter.

They couldn't have telegraphed Nora's death any more, like she was so doomed when Eph was talking about a future with her.
I liked this season, but the best parts for me were the prologue flashbacks, every one was so great.

Sure, but not the way she died. That's what was so cool about it, because you thought Eph was going to do it.

Wow, that was abysmal. The response here surprises me.

The auction scene could possibly be the worst few minutes of TV I have ever seen. Setrakian and Eichorst have been shown to have a blood lust, yet they stand toe to toe and exchange witty banter? How the hell do you transfer gold electronically?

When Season 1 ended, I was stoked for Season 2 and what I had heard about the story/concept. Season 2 has really left me cold on this show. I'll keep reading Book 2 and hope it delivers or gets me excited again.

This season was just sloppy and full of useless fluff. It did hit notes from the book but did not explain their importance, which left them flat and meaningless.

Re: The Strain (S2E13) -- Season Finale -- "Night Train" -- 10/04/15

Pretty sad how Nora went out. All because of that little shit Zack. Nora should have not hesitated for even one second. Who cares if Eph's bratty kid would hate you?

Nora's death was sad, but well done. Eph wouldn't have killed her even if she begged him.

Poor Palmer. Probably devastated that his old ass won't get laid anymore from a young hottie. Sucked that they killed off Coco again.

Funny how like season 1, we go out on another Setrakian voice over.
