Though it was a pretty good episode following the terrible last season. Oddball cases and interesting characters made the show interesting so I hope that continues, but we'll see how the political battles go.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

Yeah I thought it was a good start too. Good re-set after what transpired last season.

Alicia is now a lowly bond attorney trying to re-build her career. It was actually fun seeing her struggle for a change.

Eli gets fired by Peter and replaced by Margo Martindale. BTW, good casting. I also liked Chris McDonald as the jerk judge.

Looking forward to seeing what Jeffrey Dean Morgan adds.

Barely recognized Bridget Regan in this episode (some of you may remember her from Jane the Virgin)

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

I've only seen Bridget Regan in Legend of the Seeker. Looking at IMDB I see she was in Beauty and the Beast (2013), White Collar, and Agent Carter besides Jane the Virgin. I knew I'd seen her before but I couldn't place where.

It wasn't clear to me the judge was being a jerk. Rather, it seemed he was being just what you'd see in that type of court for just the reason he said -- to keep the cases moving. Alicia's the protagonist of the show so we want things to work for her, but she was the new one coming into the court with little knowledge of the way things are. The judge was right to basically call her "slumming". None of the other lawyers are likely handling cases on the side involving $8mm paintings or being picked up by limousines. As time moved on, he worked with her.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

I think it is more an indictment of the system that needs to push so many people through the process without regard for their rights to have proper consultation with an attorney.

The judge was being a jerk, but he would likely argue that such behavior is necessary for "the system" to keep working.

Is his commitment supposed to be to fair and just treatment for each individual defendant? Or is it to the bureaucracy?

Also, he is probably not very happy about being the sitting judge in bond court and wants to take that out on big shots like Alicia, but he is supposed to respect all the lawyers in his court as professionals.

I liked this episode as well.

I was trying to figure out who the bad investigator was, and it's officer Siobhan from Banshee.

I was hoping they wouldn't talk too much about It Follows because the Netflix disc is sitting on my table right now.

Thank you! That was killing me - and I was too lazy to look it up.

Good episode. Morgan's character is so hilariously chill. They're obviously setting them up for some romance later - should be interesting.

I love JDM but my only complaint with his casting here is that he kind of looks like Alicia's husband, albeit a scruffier, hotter, and more charming version. But maybe that is intentional.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

Just caught up with episode 2 last night. I liked the introduction of JDM's characters. Very laid back smooth talker. Liked how he leveraged himself to working for both Diane and Alicia. That's how freelancing works.

Yeah I didn't immediately recognize Trieste Kelly Dunn (Siobhan from Banshee) right away. Funny how she was pretty incompetent, but that was obviously the only way JDM would get into the mix.

at the Judge's growling stomach during the trial. I like the light hearted approach they've taken so far.

If they were looking for an investigator, what about Robyn, that one blonde investigator?

Yeah, not sure why Robyn is out of the picture, at least from a plot perspective.

Interesting wrinkle with the judge and where that might go.

Nice episode, and it will be interesting to see if the FBI blamed Alicia for blowing up the bribery sting, and whether they try to get back at her.

Is the actor who plays Zack simply unavailable, or have they simply written him off the show? There was theoffhand reference to him helping Grace do the internet research on FBI guy, but otherwise they seem to have forgotten him.

This season has been pretty good. I find it more watchable than some of the previous seasons

Good episode last night. The combination of the election activities and the David Lee shenanigans worked for me.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

I liked the episode, but would have preferred that it focus entirely in Iowa. I felt like that plot could have used more room to breathe, especially given some of the cast who we rarely get to see.

Meanwhile, everything in Chicago seemed to me like an excuse just to give those characters screen time. Part of that may have been that I had trouble buying that Jackie didn't have her own lawyer, and would have automatically gone with Alicia & Lucca. Speaking of which, shouldn't their firm be far far too busy dealing with all of that new business that Grace got for them to have so much spare time to do a pre-nup (which neither of them seem to be an expert on).

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

Poor Peter. That's all she wrote with his campaign.

Loved the Political storyline in Iowa. That fanboy who followed them around was hilarious.

The opening scene that followed up on the winter finale was pretty intense. Was it really 6 years ago when Will made that phone call to Alica that Eli deleted? Seemed a little more recent than that.

I agree the scenes in Chicago with Jackie and the pre-nup felt more like an afterthought. They should have focused the whole episode on Iowa.

Great season so far. I did fall behind, but binged the last 7 episodes including last night.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

I would've been OK with a complete Iowa episode since that was a major event and the probable end to that storyline.

Honestly I didn't really care about the whole prenup thing. I just want to see David Lee get roasted for his shenanigans.

And yeah, it seems like the Will thing was only a couple seasons ago. Maybe they're manipulating time for plot purposes.

Re: The Good Wife (CBS) -- Season 7 Thread -- Premieres 10/04/15

The pre-nup story line didn't bother me. It's good to switch scenery every once in awhile, and David Lee is always entertaining.

I laughed when they showed the campaign bus turn the corner onto the exact same street with three different county signs posted.

Alicia is in a really dark place right now. They could take her character in any number of different directions going forward.

I'm not sure that Peter's campaign is over. It should be, but maybe he'll stick it out through the New Hampshire primary.

I too laughed out loud at the tour bus taking that turn 3 times, Good episode, Clearly they remembered where Zach was.

I still love eli. So Peter goes back to being Governor, and Eli is back working for him? Margot is done, no more campaing.
