Season 1 is now available on Netflix (as of today 9/21/15). if you missed episodes or want to try to get back into it, here's your chance.
It's also available on Blu-Ray, but the season set is kind of expensive at $40+

I can't decide if I want to continue with this show or not. It's just so uneven. Maybe the second season will have better-planned pacing.

I watched the first 12 or so episodes of last season but it wasn't good enough to keep my attention week to week. But if this season is focusing on different Gotham City villains I may have to check it out.
I really like the dude from Shameless as Joker. Though I hope it doesn't mean that he's leaving or has left Shameless.

Notice how Barbara Kean is on the villain side of the graphic above. I guess they are fully embracing her as a villain this season. Especially now that Morena Baccarin is a series regular and will probably be Jim's permanent girlfriend.

Hopefully it gets whatever was missing last season... I barely managed to finish it. Literally was making myself watch it for the second half because I had no interest in the show itself but was hoping they'd do something good with the premise. It never got better though. So unless the enjoyment goes up I don't really foresee me watching this season in completion.

40 minutes in and I'm bored... not a good start to the season.
Zsasz's puppet (that he dropped in the sink) didn't get a reaction from me.
Yawn.

Two shows using Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" in the opening on back to back nights.

I thought it was a solid season opening episode aside from something I'll mention later. I really like what they've done with the Penguin, that actor basically carries the show with his performance. They've already gone to a very dark place with Jim Gordon, where can they really take that angle any further without warping the character we know will become Commissioner Gordon?
I am surprised Fox allowed that cut-off head in plain view at the 8 PM hour. Standards of acceptability have greatly changed in the last decade on broadcast in prime time. It wouldn't have been allowed by the FCC just a few years ago.
The one problem I had with this episode was the terrible arc they gave Bruce. When he discovered that numerical keypad, I was like "Great, now Bruce will start applying detective skills to deduce the passcode and unlock this rudimentary Batcave. He can learn how to take finger prints and other detective skills." Then we get a moronic sub-plot about Bruce wailing on the door and blowing it up with liquid explosives.
I haven't had much problem with the unusual takes Gotham has had on Batman's villains but it's obvious this producing team doesn't really get the character on a fundamental level, or studied the hero much beyond watching Batman Begins over and over. It usually works in spite of that handicap.

I love this show maybe because I can enjoy it at face value and really know crap all about the comics so any deviations are completely irrelevant to me. I know that I like Jim and his partner, Penguin, young Batman, probably the best Alfred ever, Joker is promising and I enjoy the arc of the show very much, though the extra episodes last year were uneven. Maybe my favorite of all the super hero shows but it seems so divisive. Then again I think the Walking Dead is the dumbest and one of the worst shows on TV yet people love that.

Good start to season 2. I guess my memory is a little foggy, but I didn't remember at all that Jim was demoted and Harvey left the force. That came as kind of a surprise.
Loved Penguin and how he's progressed from season 1. He actually really felt threatening in that scene with the Police Commissioner and the head.
Morena looked really sexy in that negligee. More scenes like that would be greatly appreciated.
Liked hearing the letter from Bruce's Dad that sort of teased what's to come in Bruce's future.
Good setup for the villains causing a ruckus in Gotham. Glad that Barbara is still a fucking nut job and they aren't attempting to redeem her.

I liked the glimpse we got of the actual Riddler, and not just nerdy Edward. The green shirt was a nice touch.

So I DVR'd this episode, but I gave up on the show last season really early on. Will I be utterly confused without going back and watching the first season (which isn't going to happen, at least not in the near future)?
