I didn't see the first one yet. Where do we think they might go with the second film?

Re: Fantastic Four 2 (D: ??, 20??) S: Michael B. Jordan
Honestly though, I think they will press forward making it look like they have full intent to make another movie, like Sony did after TASM2, because they have virtually no bargaining power with Marvel at this point after the bomb they just released. I think we start seeing some execs pushed out the door if this gets put into production.

Why bring down two franchises, though? Also unless they go with time-travel (which would muddy things even more), the only recognizable person they could use in a modern day setting from the X-men would be Wolverine. I mean, I haven't seen FF but I assume it's set in current times?

Why is that? There are a ton of mutants they could use. Besides, at the end of DOFP, we saw the current-time X-Men alive and well.

[John McEnroe] You CAN'T be serious!!!!! [/John McEnroe]
Seriously, how stupid would they have to be to do a sequel to the biggest bomb of the year? What? They want to see how much money they can lose next time???

This is simply going through the motions so Fox doesn't look like they are mothballing the Fantastic Four brand. Fox is completely aware they've destroyed any possible trust with the fan community over this property. You pretend you are working on Fantastic Four 2 until revealing a better idea, like the proposed X-Men crossover. How about an Iceman/Human Torch buddy movie?

For the sequel we need to really up the ante ... we need MORE. Forget the Fantastic Four, let's add HERBIE and call it Fantastic Five!

I don't think they control her rights, but I would add a character like She-Hulk to the mix. She had a long stretch as a member of the Fantastic Four at one point.

As virtually the only person on this board who really liked the first one. I hope somehow this can happen.

Can Fox retain the FF rights by not making making an actual FF movie and just having them guest-star in other movies? I don't know, but I wouldn't think that it would work like that. Fox likely has to keep making actual FF movies to retain the rights. A crossover movie that is equal parts FF and X-Men (like BvS) would probably work, but just having the FF guest-star in an X-Men movie probably isn't enough.
