Z Nation (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- back for more brains, baby! Premieres 9/11/15

I'm going to guess a season thread is probably proper, but speak up if you want episode specific threads!

Season 1 of Z Nation took us all by surprise. Seriously, it was on SyFy (Stee-rike 1!), brought to us by The Asylum (Stee-rike 2!), and riding the zombie apocalypse wave fueled by The Walking Dead (ripoff? Stee-rike 3! Yer' out!).

However, the show's over the top levels of gore, irreverant zombie slayings, and surprisingly likable characters (who actually are liable to be killed at any moment) won our hearts. At times many of us argued it was actually better than The Walking Dead!

Anyway, Season 2 kicks off Friday night. From the little bit I have read, it will pick up right where Season 1 left off. Let's hurry up and discuss this before the nukes fall ...

Re: Z-Nation Season 2 -- back for more brains, baby! (Premieres Sept. 11, 2015)

I thought the show was more comical and made fun of the genre than anything. It was pretty much as if it didn't even take itself serious and didn't expect us to either. That in itself made it a bit unique to the same wave of zombie-esque stuff and kept me watching through the first season and as such willing to pick up season 2.

Well I imagine you weren't disappointed by the season premier...unless stripper lesbian zombies aren't your thing.

Meh, what about zombie death by filling up with an extinguisher...
or fetus-zombie pointing the way to daddy from inside momma's belly?

Zombie-strippers are played out.

I guess Citizen Z doesn't have to worry about running out of oxygen again.

Great episode. It's a nice counter balance from the bleakness of the walking dead.

Nice. I liked the reference to Crystal Skull, hiding in a fridge to avoid a nuclear blast.

My question: Even though they survived the blasts, how do they survive the fallout/radiation?

they made a passing reference to that in the nuclear power plant episode. One of them or the scientist said they might all get cancer in 20 years from the fallout even if they get outside the blast zone if the plant melts down but i think Warren said, that is the least of their concerns right now.

I like how weak nuclear blasts are. Did anyone even get killed in any of the blasts?

Why are
people so afraid of nukes? Obviously all you have to do is run away and you will be fine.

They showed at least one person getting burned alive from the blast.

The guy in the fridge. But did you see him die or just get horribly burned? What are the chances we will see him again later in the show? I am taking bets.

Heh, they were all close enough to be blinded by the flash of light from the EMP.

Yeah, I have to say - especially given that in last season's finale they were two minutes from impact and hadn't even gotten fully out of the facility - that surviving those nuclear strikes was more preposterous than the actual zombie apocalypse.

You'd think the missile defense system at the Northern Light post would've taken out the incoming missiles farther away. Where did the Air Force zombies come from? Was that plane always there but just under plenty of ice? I also wonder how Citizen Z is going to protect himself from the Arctic climate or if he'll head south to meet up with the rest of the cast.

Airplane crashed in first episode. Citizen Z was supposed to be on it. I guess the dead just stayed in it because there was no outside stimulus to cause them to look around until the nuke shook the plane. I am amazed at how many of them are in shape to run around though. With that kind of crash, I would have expected more limb losses so not being able to move quickly.

I watched the premiere today. I liked it, despite the goofy zombie death towards the end and the reveal of the women pregnant with Murphy's baby.

It's stupid at times, but much more enjoyable than the Walking Dead, and WAY more enjoyable than Fear The Walking Dead.

great action packed episode. I don't care about Mack or Addy so Addy can go any time. I am glad Doc has 9 lives. The episode had some good twists where I thought for a moment that Murphy did die. I am not sure what they can do with the Cassandra character now she has kind of turned.
