Game of Thrones (S5E10) - Season Finale - "Mother's Mercy" - 6/14/15

Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.

Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss; directed by David Nutter.
Season finale. Renewed for a 6th season.

Posting early as I won't be around tomorrow and DJariya is on vacation.

Please DO NOT bring any spoiler or rumor discussion into this thread.

Will this finale be super-sized like last year's finale was?

Reminder, D&D promised that the Season 4 Finale was... well... gonna be all sorts of awesome.

showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (often collectively referred to by fans as D&D) issued a statement about Sunday’s season finale, entitled “The Children,” and promise “It’s the best finale we’ve ever done, bar none.” Hold on tight!

I sincerely hope that S5E10 >> S4E10.

I'm not sure that statement is technically incorrect, though, since he's specifically talking about finales and most of them have been aftermath and set-up. More big stuff happened in 4.10 than other finales.

That's probably the least kept secret/spoiler for the whole season.

And they were right. The Children is the best of all the Finales thus far. Only Fire and Blood comes close.

I still have 3 episodes to catch up on before tonight's finale. Did something big happen in episode 9, meaning the finale won't be much a cliff hanger?

Just curious. Don't really care about spoilers all that much.

Ummm, yeah. 8 and 9 are both pretty epic IMO. But there's plenty left to go down in the finale.

Agreed. And the Season 1 finale "Fire and Blood" is a lot like the Season 2 & 3 finales in being mainly aftermath of ep 8 & 9 events and setup for the next season, but then has that great closing scene with Khaleesi and her newly hatched baby dragons.

Episodes 7, 8, & 9 are the best episodes of the season so far, so you should be able to marathon thru them quickly.

And if episode 10 lives up to the hype (and I do expect at least one big cliffhanger in it), this will be a season where all the best episodes were down the stretch of the 2nd half of the season (which would be fitting given how many people said they were quitting the show after episode 6 ended with Sansa's wedding night, part 2).

What that clip seems to confirm

Spoiler:
Something with Benjen. The possible introduction of Ser Robert Thorne...

Q: Is this going to become a show that a guy now has to be careful about admitting he enjoys in the company of certain women? There are several women I know who watched the show but have tuned out entirely after some episodes this season. Most male viewers I know weren't as phased, but the women were pretty adamant about no longer wanting to partake.

Sounds like women I wouldn't enjoy the company with.

One is my mom (who really wasn't a fan as much as a casual viewer) and the other a potential GF who has read the books but is a big time feminist.
