Sully (2016, D: Clint Eastwood) S: Tom Hanks -- Capt. Chesley Sullenberger biopic
Looks like there is no stopping the 85 year old Eastwood.

How is Clint Eastwood following American Sniper? Chronicling the life of Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, that’s how. Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that the Hollywood icon would be directing the biopic of the commercial airline pilot who was touted as a national hero in 2009. The script, written by Todd Komarnicki (Perfect Stranger), is based on the pilot’s autobiography, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, co-written by Jeffrey Zaslow. The film is untitled at the moment, and production will begin later this year.
“Simply put, Clint Eastwood is at the top of his game, not to mention a global treasure,” Warner Bros. Pictures’ President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production Greg Silverman said in a statement. “On the heels of his extraordinary work in American Sniper, it is tremendously exciting to see him explore the life of another captivating true-life hero.”
To refresh your memory: Sullenberger was piloting US Airways Flight 1549 when it struck a flock of birds. He then performed an emergency landing in New York’s Hudson River. Everyone on the flight survived. But the film’s scope will look beyond that one January day.
“I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall,” Sullenberger said in a statement. “The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team.”
Eastwood is on the heels of his biggest directorial project in Sniper, which earned nearly $550 million worldwide. He, Stewart, Marshall, and Tim Moore are producers on the self-proclaimed dream team, while Kipp Nelson and Steven Mnuchin will executive produce.

Re: Untitled Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger biopic (D: Clint Eastwood)
Don't get me wrong, Sullenberger is a true hero indeed, compare to the "sport heroes", but how is someone who did something incredible for less than 15 mins a good topic for 2 hours feature. He got his 15 mins of fame. That's good and plenty. They better do a good job of backtracking Sullenberger's career and add some gumble to the jambalaya. Like that time when he had to return a pair of pants. He was waiting for the train and slipped and fell on some mud ruining the very pants he was going to return. When he got to the store, the store clerk told him he can't return it because it's dirty.

If that's your lead, may I suggest the film be titled "Sully'd!"

Instead of the plane hitting a flock of birds they're going to change it to a terrorist attack by a middle eastern explosives expert named Moustspha.

Tom Hanks is being eyed to play Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger for Clint Eastwood and Warner Bros. in “Sully.”
Sources tell Variety Hanks is in final talks to play the brave captain who safely landed a troubled aircraft full of passengers on the Hudson River.
Based on the book by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, the story takes a closer look at the man who became a national hero after his plane began to malfunction shortly after takeoff and he was forced to take drastic measures in order to save the passengers.
Producer Frank Marshall acquired the rights to the book in 2010 and had been developing ever since. Eastwood had been circling the Boston Marathon bombing pic “Patriot’s Day” at CBS Films, but decided to spotlight another American hero after coming across “Sully.”
Marshall will produce with Allyn Stewart.
Like Eastwood, Hanks has been drawn to playing roles based on real individuals, such as “Captain Phillips,” Jim Lovell in “Apollo 13″ and, most recently, Walt Disney in “Saving Mr. Banks.”
Hanks can be seen next in Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies” and is currently filming “Inferno” where he will reprise his role of Robert Langdon. He is repped by CAA.

I just don't see how this will be a particularly interesting story. "In 2016, a man will do his job."

I think they are going to mix flashbacks (to his childhood, pilot training etc) and flashforwards (to the day he flew the plane) to tell this story. IMO, it's the only storytelling device that really would make sense for him. So many biopics have done it.

Some good red meat for the nigh-senile Eastwood to sink his teeth into.

I'd be a bit disappointed if it was Hanks... he just did a biopic for crying out loud. Macy certainly looks the part. Costner could rock the stache and put in a nice performance...
