Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

I'm voting to get the Razzie Awards winners/nominees accepted into the qualifying list. There are just so many gems in those choices. Could be added alongside financial bombs and Imdb bottom list. http://www.razzies.com/forum/entire-...9_forum58.html

I always love spending time during this challenge not only with bona fide drive-in exploitation, but also with films that have received critical beatings. Like a film school teacher I once had who appreciated cinema's worst told our class back in 1989: "You don't go to the drive-in to see good movies, because you've got shit on your windshield and the films are usually out of focus. That's why I'm seeing No Holds Barred at the Drive-In tonight. It's the way this stuff was meant to be experienced"

Thanks. I think I do have that channel amongst all my others. I'll have to check it out again.

Re: Sixth Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge April 1-30 2015

I'm wondering if there's going to be a "break-out" movie this year for me. One that a bunch of people end up seeing that becomes a wonderful discovery. I think last year's break-out movie was "Miami Connection". What a fine piece of 80s cheese that was. So much so, in fact, that Rifftrax plans on using it for one of their live shows later on this year.

"Miami Connection" was a big hit with me last year as well. I usually find a few uniquely enjoyable films every year. They make watching the terrible ones way more worth it. A few other highlights for me from the past challenges are:
"Danger Diabolique"
"Django"
"Ricky-Oh: The Story of Ricky"
"Pink Flamingos"

I grabbed "High Plains Drifter" from my local library to get warmed up.

Did you watch with subtitles and dubbed English? They don't match each other very well at times and it added a bit more humor to it.

It might be a sub channel, as when I went to watch a movie, it gave an activation code, but today I found The Cult Movie Channel. I never went past the code though, so I can't say for sure.

(Also, what's the 3D channel that Roku has?)
I don't have a Roku box but I think they have the new Shout!FactoryTV Channel which is free and has a bunch of cult movies as well as a chunk of MST3K films. you can also stream form your computer.

Oddly enough I have a bunch of stuff coming in the mail that I would love to get in time for this challenge!

Time To Kill (DVD)
All Hell Breaks Loose (DVD)
Enter The Ninja (BD)
Revenge of The Ninja (BD)

I enjoyed "Ricky-Oh" as well. A couple of other highlights for me last year were "Night of the Comet" and "Disco Godfather". One that was a lot better than I expected was "Six-Pack Annie". I will probably skip the "Mondo" film this year, because I was pretty disgusted by the one I did last year.

Yeah, I'd agree with lifting the pre-1990 3D ban for certain recent films that qualify. I don't think everything on the list above quite fits, but there are a number of others such as Scar 3D, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Night of the Living Dead 3D and Texas Chainsaw 3D that would be more suited.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Chiller be another good channel for this challenge? Aren't the movies on there squarely in that type of horror that are allowed?

Wondering if the Resident Evil films would count for this challenge, or are they too big a budget, and be better off watching them for the current challenge. I own the first 3 on DVD, and have Afterlife on my Amazon Video Library.

How could we do it in such a way that it didn't let in, say, The Avengers? Most of those films listed would qualify regardless of 3D.
