Actor/actresses with very similar careers?

In your opinion?

A couple of recent examples:

Mary Elizabeth Winstead/Brie Larson (Mainly the last few years)

Jennifer Lawrence/Shailene Woodley

Re: Actor/actresses with very similar careers?

Until the late 80s, Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood.
Started on tv western about same time. Became the two biggest stars in the world in the 70s making similar movies. Cumulating with them co-starring in 1985's City Heat.

Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra
Errol Flynn/Tyrone Power
Sean Connery/Harrison Ford
Peter Cushing/Christopher Lee

They were also two guys who were both told very young that they'd "never make it" in Hollywood.

Re: Actor/actresses with very similar careers?

Jamie Lee Curtis/Sigourney Weaver

4 huge genre movies each

4 Halloweens/4 Aliens

Both made classic 80's comedies

A Fish Called Wanda,Trading Places/Ghostbusters 1&2

Both appeared in huge James Cameron blockbusters

True Lies/Avatar

In 2010 made their first movie together (You Again) where they shared the same amount of screen time and were basically the ying to the others yang.

Three of the four Chris actors (Evans, Pine, & Pratt) all basically have the same career now, leaning more towards action with some comedy/drama on the side. The fourth Chris (Hemsworth) needs to add more non-action stuff to his resume.

He was really really good in Rush. I may not care for his acting abilities w/ Thor cuz the character is very cookie cutter but he really did well for Rush. Great Great movie. Amazing visuals too.

Agreed on all points. Hemsworth really surprised me as all I'd seen him do was Thor and five minutes as Captain Kirk's father. Still, I'd classify Rush as an action-drama, and his two upcoming films, Blackhat and the one with the big whale, also look to be in that vein. He would be more well rounded if he could do something like a Snowpiercer or Into the Woods.

I'd like to see him hit some material w/ some weight to it. I can't tell yet by the Mann or Howard film but.... he's got some talent in there. Thor for sure doesn't showcase his talent.

Eddie Murphy- Chevy Chase
Both were at the height of their careers in the 80s
Now their careers are pretty much dead

Eddie Murphy's actual career is not dead by a long shot, but the career we all WANT him to have is.

This is true. Eddie still makes decent money for the movies he makes and has had a better career than Chase. Like him or not, his films have grossed (without adjusting to inflation) $3.8 billion and average $100 million domestically according to box office mojo.

The 80's Eddie Murphy movies I can manage not having. I just WISH he'd get back on stage doing stand up again. Even if its just for one more special.

Absolutely. Now go watch True Detective Season 1 Episode 2 to see why Alexandra Daddario is on the other side of that slash.

Eddie Murphy is still heavily respected though. If he were to win an award, he would definitely get a standing ovation. Chevy Chase wouldn't even be invited to the ceremony.

No.

People don't like Murphy (see SNL40), but people can tolerate him as he's not the biggest asshole in the room like Chase is.
