To be honest I do. Just that rap these days is DEAD. Or better yet it's mixed in greatly with pop.
Some songs I dig like A$ap, a few tracks of Lil Wayne mostly his old songs, these days he raps like he's on crack, really corny.
Eminem I used to like (the non crackhead Eminem) but he's garbage these days.

That's crazy.
In your opinion, what is it that has made it pop? The hooks or something more? I was watching Charlemagne interview DMX and said he missed the era of Hip-Hop that consisted of songs like "Damien."

No. Lil Wayne signed to Birdman's Cash Money Records label when he was like 14 or 15 and been there ever since. Lil Wayne's father was not a part of his life so he looked to Birdman as a father figure, and Birdman treats him like a son. The kissing thing was explained by a former artist of the label as something to show respect for the boss, likening it to how the mafia kisses each other on the cheek.

I read this as Lil Wayne quit rapping (no more tongue locking) and is donating money (leave Cash Money). I'm not up to date on the rap scene at all.
